Just got a call from 020 3831 4750, looks like it’s from London. Any idea who it might be?

They said they were from Virgin and that other people were using my internet via my ISP address. I told them they were probably scammers, and they denied it, but then wanted me to let them get on my internet to "help me." Seemed fishy, like they’d take over and install dodgy software. This same number called before saying I had some wi-fi issues that were on and off.

Could everyone please tell their family and friends that if they don't know a number, just ignore the call. Real callers usually leave a voicemail or drop a text. These scams are awful and the people behind them are super smart and convincing, so it’s really important to warn others. I bet these nasty scammers are making loads of money out of honest folks out there. Please share this message around!

I’m currently living overseas and handed my old UK phone number over to some place called The Claims Guys. They come under different names but say they find missold PPI claims. Stay clear. There are legit firms out there that do this and are properly registered. I reckon this call was probably from a PPI company trying to chase up on missold policies.

Got a call about some kind of refund claim for mis-sold PPI. I said I wasn't looking to claim, but the lady kept going on about it. Then she asked if it was because I hadn’t got any loans or credit cards that would have PPI attached, which I thought was odd like she already had my info. She even said goodbye using my first name, which felt a bit off. Best just block the number and avoid the hassle - annoying PPI scam call.

I got a call from this firm and they left a message but didn’t actually say anything - just some background noise the whole time. It’s against the law here since it can upset folks. Having worked in a call centre before, we were always told not to do that, so it’s clear they don’t follow proper training.
