Phone number ☎️ 02032398052 👆 is reported as a persistent and well-known scam targeting UK residents with calls falsely claiming they’ve been awarded an £8,000 government grant for being a good citizen. Callers often use foreign accents, obscure international numbers, and press recipients to call a specified local number to claim their “funds.” The scam typically involves requests for personal details and an upfront payment (around £200) purportedly to release the grant, which is never received. Many recipients have detected the deceit through inconsistent stories, lack of official information, or simple logic regarding government finances. Vulnerable individuals, including elderly people, are frequently targeted. It is strongly advised not to engage, never to provide personal or financial details, and to report such incidents to authorities.

This call really made my morning, had me laughing non stop! The bloke started ranting about how all English people are con artists and that the Queen’s got the stone. I mentioned all the help we send over to India and said if the stone was sent back, it wouldn’t be sold or the money given to those in need. I told him we actually support a lot of Indian immigrants, so his comments were unfair to them. Ended up telling him he must’ve been totally brainwashed. Honestly, these calls give me some great chat material for the day. Ha ha!

Had a call today from +3902389001076, but honestly I could barely make out what the lady was saying. She kept going on about some treasury thing, saying I'd won £8000 or summat. Asked me to confirm my phone number, then suddenly wanted my age too. She gave me a code number and told me to ring back on 0203 239 8052, but only if I called within half an hour or so. Had a quick search of that number online and, well, you can guess what I found...

Got a call earlier today from +39 0238 9001076. The woman on the line was hard to understand, but she said something about the treasury granting me £8,000. She asked me to verify my phone number, then abruptly said hello again and asked how old I was. She gave me a code along with a number, 0203 239 8052, telling me I had to ring back within half an hour or so. I looked up the number online - didn’t need to dig too deep to know it was dodgy.

I've found myself in the same boat as several others on this site. I’m curious, though-could it be that a number of us have ties to TalkTalk, whether as former or current customers? Since the whole TalkTalk saga, I’ve seen a rise in these calls since I decided to part ways with them. Quite peculiar, don’t you think?

I’ve recently been approached with the tantalising offer of an eight grand 'grant'. Curiously, the address they provided (which has strangely varied slightly each time they mentioned it, mind you) was supposedly the London Probate Department. Honestly, I doubt I’ll ever see a penny from this lot. It’s a shame, really; I could have been enjoying a festive season in Marbella.

I've had pretty much the same thing happen to me as well. Just wondering though, since I’ve gotten a couple of these calls after dealing with TalkTalk (and I've actually left them now), could it be that all of us who get these calls are either current or former TalkTalk customers?

Honestly, I've been through the exact same thing as others on here. One thing I’m wondering though - ever since I stopped using TalkTalk (I’ve moved away from them now), I keep getting these calls. Do you reckon it’s just us lot who are either with TalkTalk now or used to be?

I recently received a call from this number, instructing me to dial 0203 239 8052, claiming there’s an £8000.00 jackpot waiting for me. A quick search on Google confirmed it’s just another scam, as one would expect.

A government grant of eight thousand pounds sounds rather dodgy to me; it might just be a ploy to snag your banking information!

Received a call from these chaps today, and they handed me this number to ring back. Clearly a dodgy setup! I chose not to make the call, but honestly, I can’t help but feel a bit robbed, especially since they were only offering a measly £1000. What a right laugh that is!

I got a call earlier from some bloke abroad claiming the government was handing out £8000 to good people. I humoured him by repeating back all his info just to keep him talking - knew straight away it was dodgy. I've even received a note from the DWP about a £200 heating payment, so if I really was entitled to £8000, they’d have told me by now. These types of calls are so annoying, why do they still get through?

Got a call earlier from some bloke overseas saying the government was handing out £8000 to honest people. I played along, got all his info and repeated it back, just to keep him chatting. Knew it was definitely a con. Recently, I did get a letter from the DWP about a £200 heating allowance, so if I really was entitled to £8000 they would have told me properly. Honestly, why can't these nuisance calls be blocked for good?

I received a peculiar call today from a man with a thick accent, clearly not from the UK. He claimed I was eligible for a government grant worth £8000 and urged me to ring a specific number immediately. I could tell right away it was a con. Just steer clear of this nonsense! He probed about my employment and age but couldn’t even confirm my name when I quizzed him on it. Honestly, which government hands out £8000 like that? It’s a total scam, so whatever you do, don’t share any personal information with those chancers!

Got a call just like loads of people seem to have from this site, saying there’s an £8,000 loyalty payout from the Government and to ring 02032398052 to get it. Didn't fall for it - it’s obviously a scam! The Government’s short of cash, there’s no way they’re handing me any cash, even if I supposedly 'paid all my taxes and never went bankrupt'!!! Don’t be daft and get caught out!

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be offering a government grant. Honestly, it felt like he assumed I was completely daft. I received a rather intriguing call from a chap who claimed to be Spanish, delivering what he described as fantastic news. The number he rang me from was an unfamiliar one, but he kindly offered me another number to confirm my unexpected stroke of luck. However, the catch is that I need to part with £210 in order to claim the £8000 prize. The silver lining, he assured me, was that this £210 would be returned to me. To ensure I wasn’t falling victim to some dodgy scheme, I asked this lad with the foreign accent who the current British Prime Minister was. You won't believe it - he couldn’t answer! At that point, I decided to wrap up our chat as it was time for my daily fix of Popmaster on Radio 2. I thanked him for his 15 minutes of nonsense, labelled him a nuisance and a scam artist, and wished him a thoroughly miserable day, week, month, and year.

Just had the exact same thing happen. My husband answered and the woman on the phone said she was with the police, so he asked her for some ID. She didn’t sound English, more like she had an Asian accent, and then she started calling him a stupid arse! His English isn’t perfect as he’s not originally from the UK, so it was really rude of her. Then she just hung up. Definitely not very professional at all!

I can relate! My grandmother, who's 87 and full of spirit, received a call claiming it was about some medical fees. When I confronted the chap on the phone, he was rather evasive and struggled to provide a proper contact number. Initially, he couldn't even specify which government department he represented! Eventually, he did share a number and an ID for this supposed grant, but then warned me not to disclose either to anyone. I felt it was best just to hang up straightaway!

Had a phone call from some bloke with a weird mix of an foreign accent and american drawl, telling me i was picked for a government grant worth about £8,000 for being a model citizen or something. All i had to do was ring another number and give them some “secure code” to find out how to claim the cash. Obviously, it sounded dodgy right away so i looked up the number online. Feel proper bad for people who fall for these sorts of tricks - wish there was a way to put an end to these scams once and for all.

I just got called by the same scam number. Has anyone bothered to report it to the police yet? Since it’s a registered number, I’d imagine they could track it down and take action, or maybe even go after the company that’s letting them use that number. Feels like something should be done about this.

I received a call from someone claiming to be with the UK Grants office in London, supposedly representing the government. They told me I was selected for a £8,000 grant that I wouldn't have to repay. The caller provided me with an ID number and instructed me to contact her fund manager at 02032398052. Total rip off this one. Like the government would just have £8000 ready to hand out to anyone who answers the phone. It's all just a load of rubbish and a huge waste of time. Don’t trust anyone ringing up saying there’s some kind of government grant you can spend however you want. Real grants are always tied to strict conditions and you have to meet all kinds of criteria. This "grant" business is just a con. Best not to call back or get involved at all.

Totally a scam, no way the government is just handing out £8000 to random people like that. Waste of time for sure. Never trust anyone ringing you up claiming there’s some government grant you can spend on whatever you want. Legit grants always have strict rules and are for specific things, this one’s just dodgy. Don’t bother calling back, best to just ignore and forget about it.

Had a bloke on the line sounding like he was reading off a script. Said he was calling on behalf of the UK Government, telling me I was entitled to a grant of £8,000 for being a model citizen. He gave me a claim reference and a number to call to claim the cash. Proper scammers, but I had a laugh messing with him for ages. Eventually, he got fed up and had to hang up.

Just received a phone call from this number, claiming they'd be dishing out £8000 as a reward for being a decent citizen! Absolutely bonkers! 😂😂😂

I received a call claiming I was eligible for an £8000 grant that I supposedly wouldn’t need to repay. It’s baffling how these calls keep slipping through despite my preference for not being bothered like this. The caller used the number 02389001076, suggesting I return the call to 02032398052, which they touted as a freephone. To make matters worse, the caller's English was quite poor. Is this all linked to the surge of these businesses using offshore call centres? It feels like they’re just trading our personal information around. I’m utterly fed up with these persistent PPI scammers; it’s as if they think we’re all gullible!

Blimey, I just got that same ring! Luckily my mate was over, or I'd have thought I’d won some cash. Honestly, I feel like such an idiot now.

Blimey, I just got the exact same call! Luckily my mate was round, or I'd have believed I'd won some cash. Honestly, how daft am I?

Received a call claiming I've been chosen at random to win a grand! They asked me to dial 02032398052 and mention code SH215 to claim my prize. How amusing! 😂

A chap with a thick accent claiming to be 'Stephen' rang me up, insisting that I was entitled to a £8,000 grant from the government due to my exemplary citizenship. Yeah, right!
He contacted me from the number 002389001076 and instructed me to ring 02032398052 with my supposed grant reference to chat with some so-called authorised personnel. He requested my name, age, and address for ‘verification’ and obviously, I spun a yarn and he hadn't a clue!
This kind of nonsense really ought to be curtailed immediately! I’m on the TPS list, so how on earth are these calls still coming through?! I'm thoroughly vexed by this but my primary concern is for those who might be easily duped.

Got a call from this number saying the government picked me for 8000 quid as a reward for being a loyal citizen. They offered me three ways to get the money: a cheque, bank transfer, or plastic card. I chose cheque since I didn’t want to share my bank info. Then the person said I’d need to pay £200 at the post office to get my cheque released. Totally sounded like a scam to me.

I got a call telling me I qualified for an £8000 grant for things like school fees or fixing up my home, apparently because I’m a responsible tax-payer and haven’t had any financial trouble. They gave me the number above plus some activation code to ring. When I called back, they told me to go to the post office and hand over £210 before they’d send the cash by cheque or bank transfer. I decided to admit I was a bit of a gambler and wanted to try and double the cash since it seemed like a freebie! :-) That’s when they just hung up on me.

I received this phone number along with an identity code to provide when I ring. Apparently, I'm meant to receive £8000 as a token of appreciation from the government for being a model citizen. Honestly, it feels like an offer that’s far too generous to be genuine.

I received a call from this number claiming to provide an £8000 grant linked to a government loyalty programme. I've decided against returning the call since it clearly sounds like a scam.

Hi there! I recently received the same phone call about a supposed £8,000 grant from the government. It’s peculiar to think that they’d be handing out cash like that! I wonder when exactly the government started doling out free money and, more importantly, what the catch might be. It's all rather baffling, isn't it?

I got a call from a woman claiming to be from the UK government saying I was entitled to a loyalty grant. She told me to ring the number she gave and mention a reference number. Oddly, my phone flagged it as an international call. Feels dodgy, probably just fishing for bank info, so watch out - could be risky.

Got a call from a woman claiming she was calling on behalf of some company called Grand Seperable. She told me I’d been given £8,000 as a loyal phone customer and said to ring a certain number with a reference code to claim it. Sounded dodgy, like they just wanted my bank info. Classic scam if you ask me.

I got a call from a woman claiming she was with Grant Separable or something like that, telling me we’d been given £8000 for staying loyal to our phone company. She said I should ring a certain number and give them a ref number to claim it. Sounds like one of those dodgy scams trying to trick you into handing over your card info. Classic scam call if you ask me.

Some lady named Taylor Johnson rang me, and she definitely didn’t sound like she was from London with the way she spoke. She told me I’d been picked by the UK government to win £8000, which was clearly a scam.

Some lady called Taylor Johnson with a weird accent, not like anyone from London at all. She told me I’d been picked to get £8,000 from the UK government, but it’s a total scam.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the government about some loyalty grants. The bloke had a foreign accent and said I'd won cash after a survey was done by their government team. He gave me a number to call and told me to mention a reference number to the manager who picks up. I’ve looked up the number and can’t find any business connected to it at all.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from the government about a loyalty grant. The man, spoke with a foreign accent, said I’d won some cash after a survey done by their team. He gave me a number to ring back and said to mention a reference number to the manager on the other end. I looked up the number afterwards but couldn’t find any info linking it to a legit company.

Received a call claiming I'd been chosen at random as a "model taxpayer" for a rather generous grant of £8,000 that wouldn't need to be paid back. When I pushed for more details, they provided me with this number and an activation code. As with most of these schemes, I can’t shake the feeling that if it sounds overly generous, it probably is. I won’t be returning their call.

Received a call regarding a government grant that required an upfront payment of £210, which they assured would be returned once the funds were deposited. They claimed that if the cheque were sent by post, I'd receive it within a mere 2-3 hours! Not quite sure how that makes sense. Seems a bit suspect, if you ask me!

Today, I received a rather peculiar phone call from a so-called government grants department. They claimed that due to my steadfast loyalty as a citizen, I was eligible to receive a grant of £2000. They provided me with an ID number and a contact number to claim this generous reward. Quite the unexpected turn of events, if you ask me!
