I found myself in a situation quite similar to what Christiane described. An apparent Windows "technician" reached out to me, confirming my Windows software licence number, which made me momentarily consider it was legitimate. I almost fell into the trap! Foolishly, I permitted him to take control of my laptop remotely, but thankfully, I drew the line at forking out several hundred pounds for his dubious "repair". Now I'm left with the hassle of reinstalling Windows and changing all my passwords, what a faff! He introduced himself as "David Wilson", and to top it off, I spent a good 50 minutes on the phone with him. He had quite a noticeable Asian accent.

It was claimed to originate from Windows Security, which has raised alarms about malware infecting our device. Seem rather dodgy if you ask me. How on earth could they possibly be aware of this?
