We’ve just received a call from a chap named Mike Austin, who spoke with a rather pronounced Asian accent. He was regarding a loan we had previously inquired about. His pitch included a rather odd request: he insisted that we need to purchase a Ukash voucher for the initial payment. Strangely enough, he claimed that the loan funds would be deposited into our account first, and then a representative from his company would come by to collect the voucher-along with a rather peculiar mention of our house! Quite the unusual process, wouldn’t you agree?

We've had a call from this number too, but fortunately, we weren't at home when it happened. Instead, our partner answered and the callers claimed we were due a tax refund of £3000! However, they insisted we had to pay a fee upfront first. That raised all sorts of red flags for us, so we called the number back and told them precisely what we thought of their shady tactics. We made it clear that we'd be reporting them to the authorities for being a scam operation. It really irks me to think about how many elderly and vulnerable people might fall prey to these kinds of scams; it can be devastating and life-altering for them!

We received a phone call that was strikingly similar to the one described before, and it certainly felt like a scam to us. What raised our alarm bells was the fact that they mentioned our bank account number and sort code. Does this signal a need for us to shut down our current account and perhaps set up a new one? Thankfully, they didn’t mention any of our card information, but it still has us worried.

I was recently told this was the tax office, and they've mentioned something about £3265 coming my way. However, I can’t shake the feeling that this might be a scam since they're insisting I purchase a ucash voucher before I can actually receive any of it. They claim that the funds are with the government, but it all seems rather fishy to me.

What an amusing tale! We received a call from the tax office claiming they'd be sending us a cheque for £3,255 due to our punctual tax payments, how delightful! The caller identified himself as Mike Austin-such a quintessentially English name, yet his accent was decidedly foreign. Here’s the kicker: they informed us that in order to receive the payment, we needed to purchase a £100 Ukash voucher first. The number they gave us was 0203 2390245, and after a quick search online, we stumbled upon this site. I chatted with the individual for roughly twenty minutes, but after some consideration, we expressed our doubts and hung up. Sure enough, an hour later they tried their luck again!

Could this be the tax office based in the United Kingdom?

Absolutely a scam, without a doubt! The tax office doesn’t just hand out cash to ordinary folks like us without making us jump through hoops! The voucher that you've been asked to obtain will be diverted to India, and say goodbye to your cash; you won’t see a single penny of it again. It’s just like those dodgy "congratulations, you’ve qualified for a loan" scams where they demand that you cough up the first instalment upfront through Western Union or Ukash. Do the right thing and report them to Action Fraud!
