I received one of those automated calls today that said something along the lines of: "Ignoring this message may be seen as a deliberate effort to evade your first appearance in front of the Magistrate, which could result in your National Insurance Number being suspended. Your case reference is 2019?????. To find out more, please reach out to our Investigation Department before we proceed with significant actions. If you’d like to speak with an officer, simply press one." The outcome? I ended up with a message saying, "Thank you for calling Birmingham Crown Court." Typical, isn’t it?

Got a robo call saying if I don’t respond it’s like I’m dodging showing up before a Magistrate and my National Insurance Number could get suspended. They gave a case number starting with 2019 and told me to ring their Investigation Department or else serious stuff will happen. When I pressed one to talk to an officer, I got some foreign accented voice saying “Thank you for calling Birmingham Crown Court.” Definitely sounded dodgy to me!
