I phoned 999 and somehow my call got cut off, then the London ambulance service rang back to check if I still required an ambulance.

If you’ve rung 111 or 999 and get a call back from this number, don’t worry - it’s the London Ambulance Service checking in. They’re just making sure everything’s alright. Sometimes they key in numbers wrong or there's a mix-up with contacts, but it’s definitely not a scam. So no need to panic!

This was a genuine call back from the emergency services.

Actually, this number belongs to the London ambulance service. I got called by them and when I called back, it was one of their team members ringing me. Sometimes they might have the wrong contact info which can make it seem like a dodgy call or scam, but it’s legit.

This number seems to be linked with the 111 medical emergency callbacks. Either some crazy people are posting false info about it, or the 111 team put down the wrong phone number by mistake. Another possibility is that scammers are faking it. I saw a comment just a bit down that shares some details. Just so you know, 111 won't be ringing you back unless you’re already waiting for their call.

It was an ambulance service calling me back, not some sort of scam. They returned a genuine call I had made.

Got a call from some people pretending to be the ‘London paramedics control room’. They said I’d dialled 999 and asked me to keep my phone on so they could ring back. They left a couple of messages saying that because I didn’t get back to them, they were sending an ambulance over. Total scam.

I picked up the phone when it rang at about 5:58am, but all I could hear was a weird crackling noise, messing up the call. They'd called me two times in a row.

They kept ringing me over and over late at night, saying there was an ambulance coming for me. Got loads of voicemails too. Total scam, really dodgy stuff.

Got a dodgy call from someone pretending to be 111, total scam.

Got calls from someone pretending to be from 111, kept ringing me a bunch of times between 1 and 3 in the morning until I finally woke up. When I was half awake, they tried to squeeze out personal info from me. Don’t believe what others say about it being a medical follow-up - it’s not true. Tried calling the number back today but it’s no longer working.

You cant ring 111 numbers back, they're one-way only. I've heard that sometimes the call centre lads make mistakes when jotting down numbers - maybe they hit a wrong digit or the patient’s a bit out of it and gives a wrong number by accident. You won’t get any calls from the 111 service unless you’re waiting for one. But scammers flood the phone lines using huge batches of random numbers, often from places like India or China. Occasionally, these numbers actually belong to genuine people or companies, purely by chance.
