I recently received a rather dubious phone call, with the caller posing as a representative from HMRC. They insisted that if I didn’t press one to verify my identity, I’d soon find myself with a warrant for supposed fraud. 1) Frankly, I'm not daft; everyone knows the HMRC only reaches out through the post. 2) They failed to properly introduce themselves. 3) There was zero clarification on what type of fraud I was allegedly involved in or the reasons for any charges. Given the circumstances, I decided to drop the actual HMRC an email to confirm no unusual activity had occurred on my accounts. Naturally, I keep a close eye on my finances, but it's wise to double-check with the proper channels. I can comfortably assert that this number is the work of fraudsters trying to impersonate HMRC to steal personal details. - Caller: Criminals in disguise.

My spouse received a rather intriguing call from this number, purporting to offer bargain flights to America. They mentioned they would follow up with an email containing all the specifics. However, something felt off; particularly, the email address was riddled with errors, prompting us to investigate the number further. We stumbled upon another comment where someone else had shared a similar experience with a caller impersonating HMRC. It's a classic case of if it seems too fantastic, it probably is. - Caller: Scammers
