They kept ringing me a few times today but nobody answered. Looks like some dodgy scam firm making cold calls. It’s really annoying and stressful. Why isn’t there a way to block these calls for good?

Someone rang up asking for my wife regarding her insurance and they actually knew her name. I told them she’d passed away [she hasn’t] and asked them to update their records. Then they phoned back roughly an hour later and asked for me by name. I told them I was dead too and requested them to note it down. Looks like that did the trick because I haven’t heard from them since, probably about 2 hours now.

Using my BT Call Blocker, I finally feel like I’ve got the upper hand over those annoying wankers, these filthy little scumbags from abroad. Sometimes I even unblock them just to take their calls, give them a mouthful of the worst insults, then block them again. Proper satisfying, really.

My phone’s call blocker caught this number trying to ring me. The person on the other end ended the call instead of waiting for me to accept it. I’d really recommend everyone get a call blocker installed. It helps keep annoying calls from dodgy numbers away.

At approximately 16:15 on the 19th of February, we received a call from the number 02031989698. However, upon answering the call, there was silence on the other end. It was quite frustrating and I hope that BT can find a solution to these irritating calls. We have made it a point to be ex directory and not be listed in any phone book, so it's perplexing as to how these calls still reach us. It's especially bothersome when we pause our activities to answer the phone and then encounter silence with no apparent reason. It really hampers our relaxation time.

They ring me constantly asking for Mrs Curry, like 3 or 4 times a month. I've told them to stop calling this number, but nothing changes. I even reported them to the TPS, but it doesn’t seem to help. When I try to get the name of their company, they get really rude - like calling me horrible names and then hanging up. I’m not sure who they are or why they keep phoning, but I’d honestly be super wary of these lot.

Active Life? No idea who they are. Some bloke called saying he wanted to update my life insurance, and when I asked which one, he goes "Well, you might have a few with different firms." I had the pleasure of speaking with Emily from Active Life Insurance today. She reached out regarding my policies, although I don't actually have any. Emily was not overly aggressive in her approach, but I must mention that she called a number that is registered not to receive unsolicited calls. It has been quite bothersome. I do hope Emily finds a more suitable and rewarding job, as she clearly deserves better.

I didn’t pick up this call and probably a good thing too. Active Life Insurance seem legit, they’re located in Bournemouth, but their approach with mass cold calls feels a bit off. Also, why would a proper, trustworthy company use an 0203 number? If your phone shows who’s calling, I’d avoid answering any calls from 0203 numbers.

When it comes to an ending call, you find yourself dialing their number only to be left waiting for an indefinite amount of time. This persistent behavior is bothersome and action must be taken to prevent it, as cold calling is supposed to be against the law, isn't it?

I received a phone call from this number regarding my life insurance. The lady who spoke to me was polite. However, it turned out to be a scam since I don't have any life insurance. I received a call today from a woman who came across as quite articulate and educated, and she had this lovely British accent. She was inquiring about my existing life insurance policy. When I questioned her about her organisation, she mentioned she represented Active Life. I pointed out that I don't actually have any life insurance, and she promptly apologised for the mix-up and didn’t push the matter any further. That said, given that I've heard similar stories from others, I can't help but wonder if this was a phishing attempt. So, a word of caution to everyone: don’t be swayed by the charming and educated-sounding accent - it’s still just another cold caller. Best to hang up!

Got a call from a woman who sounded quite posh and clever, with a nice British accent, wanting to chat about my life insurance. I asked her which company she was with, and she said Active Life. I told her I don’t have any life insurance, and she quickly said sorry and didn’t push any further. Still, this might be a phishing attempt, especially after reading about similar calls here. So heads up everyone - even if they sound polite and well-spoken, it’s probably just a cold call. Best to just hang up straight away!

I received a call from a polite and well-spoken lady with a pleasant British accent, claiming to be from Active Life. She wanted to discuss my existing life insurance coverage. When I inquired about her organization, she confirmed it was Active Life. I informed her that I did not have any life insurance and she promptly apologized for the mistake. She did not insist or push me further. However, considering the experiences reported by others, it is possible that this call was a phishing attempt. Therefore, it is important for everyone to be cautious and not be swayed by a seemingly knowledgeable British accent. Remember, even an eloquent voice does not guarantee authenticity - it could still be a cold caller. It's best to hang up!

I was recently caught off guard while reviewing my life insurance policy. I assumed that the person on the other end of the call had informed my husband about their identity, and had assured him that we were satisfied with the policies we had been paying into for 35 years. We had also hoped that the death benefit would be enough to cover our funeral expenses. However, it was only after ending the call that we realized neither of us knew who we had actually spoken to. In retrospect, we did not share any specific details about our policy during the conversation. Nevertheless, we can't help but feel foolish at our ages of 71 and 63 for discussing our current coverage with someone who didn't even bother to use our names. The individual introduced himself as an official reviewing officer for our life insurance policy.

Got a random call from a bloke with a British accent, said his name was ‘Harry’ and he was calling from ‘Active Life’ insurance brokers. He wanted to do an annual review of my life insurance, but couldn’t even tell me who my provider was. I know Active Life are legit, but honestly, who thinks cold calling about personal finances is a good idea? It just annoys people. Definitely put them on your block list unless you’re up for chatting about your money with some stranger on the phone.

I decided to reassess my life insurance policies. Unfortunately, I only had my address and lacked any additional details, so I couldn't specifically approach any of my insurance providers. Since I was already registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS), I didn't think it necessary for them to verify with TPS, as they clearly didn't. I've taken the initiative to submit a report through the TPS website.

My dad, who is 81 years old, keeps receiving annoying phone calls five times a day. Whenever he answers, the caller immediately hangs up. She was on script, insisting it was about Data Protection why she wouldn’t say which company or policy she was calling for. These calls do nothing but waste your time - it’s all just a way for them to scam people outta their money! . .and while we’re on the subject of wasting time, there’s the TPS - I signed up with them ages ago, but still keep getting these calls. .makes you wonder if TPS really means Telephone P#st Service or somethin’?

A woman with an English accent called and asked if she was talking to Mr (my name). I replied with, well that depends who’s calling. She said she was from Active Life and wanted to talk about my current life insurance policy. I couldn’t help but laugh and said, What? You want to chat about that with me now? She immediately ended the call. Total scam alert!

Someone rang claiming to be from Active Life in Bournemouth, wanting to go over my life insurance. I asked how they got my info. They said I must’ve given permission in some survey. I told them I’m registered with TPS. They said they didn’t see any record of that. I said maybe they just didn’t bother to check. Then the call just dropped.

Best way to handle these annoying calls is to have Winston Churchill on your voicemail. The message we use is the "we shall fight on the beaches" speech, and every time they hear it, they just hang up on poor Churchill. Good times!

Even though I’m on the Telephone Preference Service, this number called me (after a couple of rings from a private number!). No one said anything when I answered - which might be a good thing, as I have a disability and it’s not always easy for me to get to the phone!

I missed the call, so I rang back and ended up waiting in a queue for ages. While I was waiting, I thought I’d look the number up here and found exactly what I needed (like that U2 song says! :) ). So I just hung up. Cheers to everyone who shared their info!

Got a call from a guy claiming his name was Andrew but had a thick Indian accent. I told him I was Sunil Gavaskar. He just went, "That might be true," and I replied, "Well, you kicked it off!"
