I got a call from this number but my phone has Call Guardian on it, so anyone not in my contacts has to say who they are before my phone will actually ring. Most scam calls just drop off when they hear that because they know I’m not going to answer or get back to them. So yeah, this one didn’t go anywhere.

Got a call about boiler insurance, which I didn’t need at all. Told the person that my home insurance already covered it, but she kept pushing. Received a rather dubious call today regarding boiler insurance. The caller claimed that since I hadn't filed any claims in the last year, I was entitled to a 35% discount on my renewal. They rattled off details about my current cover and mentioned that accidental damage wasn't included. Strangely, they requested to confirm if the phone number they were calling from was the best contact, and they had my name and postcode handy, which made it all seem rather legitimate. Then, they handed me over to another chap who promptly asked for my bank account sort code and number, so they could set up the discounted payments. That’s when the alarm bells started ringing in my mind-who on earth are these people? I expressed that I already pay for my cover through my energy provider. The response was, “But we are the same company.” I insisted that I would only agree to any changes once I received proper documentation in the post. At that, they hung up in quite a hurry. Sounds like a right scam to me!

Like many have said, got a call about a cheaper boiler cover because I hadn’t claimed anything for 8 months or so. Thing is, this bloke already had my name, address and postcode - felt a bit fishy. Got a call about boiler insurance saying that I hadn’t claimed anything this year, which was rubbish because I’ve actually made a few claims with my real provider, True Cover. Sounds like a scam to me. I’m going to report the number to the ICO - they do actually listen and take stuff seriously, I’ve put in complaints before about dodgy calls and they sorted it out. If you get calls like this, definitely report them too. If enough people complain, something gets done about it.

some bloke called offering me a policy for plumbing, boiler fixes, and other water stuff. he claimed it was with home serve and cheaper than others. i told him sure, just send me the info in the post. but he kept going on about what the policy included and said he’d only send the documents if i agreed then and there! got fed up with him repeating himself like a stuck record and ended the call nicely.

Got a call from some Indian call centre pushing boiler insurance. They were going on about this 'fantastic' one-time deal of £32 a month or something. I was a bit bored, so I just humoured them for a bit. Then I said my boiler's brand new and still covered by warranty - don’t think they expected that - and I just hung up. Total scam, if you ask me.

For heaven's sake, never share your personal information with strangers! I fell victim to a con artist posing as an Amazon representative - it was so believable. They managed to drain my bank account by snatching up £500 at a time, totaling over £24,000! Thankfully, I had the sense to grab another phone and contact my bank, and after what felt like an eternity of 8 weeks, they managed to recover the funds. The chap at the bank mentioned how fortunate I was, as another individual before me had lost £17,000! 😱 It's a wise move to ignore calls from unfamiliar numbers. If it's someone you know, ask them to leave a voicemail. Responding to unknown callers merely signals that your number is "live," as opposed to an old phone stashed away in a drawer, for example. Please, for your own sake, do NOT pick up calls from numbers you can't recognise! 🙏🙏🙏

I received a call claiming to be from Greenwich Loans, and since I actually reside in Greenwich, I thought I'd humour it and nearly proceeded - what a laugh! They put me on hold, so I decided to pop onto this site and promptly hung up, blocking the number afterward. They were after my name, date of birth, bank info, and even my driving license details, but I wisely stopped right there - no way was I dishing out my driving licence info! Now I'm just twiddling my thumbs, half-expecting a deluge of unexpected direct debits to ping into my bank account. What a plonker I feel like! Seriously, folks, always look up numbers online before engaging with these callers!

I received a rather unsolicited call from someone peddling a loan. When I made it clear that I had no interest, they surprisingly probed about who had requested it. I explained that I wasn’t aware of any such company, at which point they lost their temper and hurled some rather unpleasant insults my way. Undeterred, I decided to ring back to escalate the situation and ask for a manager. Curiously, moments later, I got a call from the very same chap, who had the audacity to claim he was the manager-all while he continued to be just as abusive. Utterly ridiculous!
