The caller actually knew my name and said he was calling to extend the warranty on my washing machine. I explained that my machine is well over 20 years old, but he still tried to sell me a 3-year insurance for it. I told him I’d never been able to insure anything older than about 5 years before. Sounds a bit dodgy if you ask me! Watch out, it’s probably not legit!

Someone called asking to speak to my daughter by her name. I asked if I could leave a message, and the bloke said he wanted to renew her washing machine warranty. I told him she doesn’t even have a washing machine, so there’s no point in a warranty, and wondered why she’d need to chat to him anyway. He just asked why not, and then suddenly hung up on me.
