5 yearsGot a call this morning from a lady with a British accent who already knew my name, telling me my washing machine cover had run out. That’s not true though, as mine’s valid until next week. I even renewed it online through the retailer’s care plan a couple of weeks back, which I told her. But she kept insisting it had expired and hadn’t been renewed. So I told her outright she was fibbing and to never ring me again. I’ve had these dodgy calls loads this year, but this one made me second guess if I’d messed up the renewal somehow. Even though I had a letter with the policy number and new expiry date, I still wasn’t 100% sure. Just to be safe, I phoned the number on the letter and found out for definite my cover had been updated properly. Honestly, don’t get taken in by these scams - my mum wasn’t so lucky and recently lost over a hundred quid! People really need to pause for a sec, check their paperwork properly, and tell these callers to ring back later after they’ve done that.
