Both men and women claim to be reaching out regarding a supposed interest I have in migrating to Australia. They offer a myriad of options and probe into my profession and earnings. It struck me as rather peculiar when they insisted I could disclose my income in Bolivianos. They even appeared to have some knowledge regarding my credit card details, knowing the first few digits and the name of the bank that issued it. Throughout the conversation, they kept stating how the call was being recorded for quality assurance. When they inquired about the initial six digits of my card number, I manipulated my response by providing the first four accurately and fabricating the last two. It was then that they claimed my bank was also recording the call for security. That’s when I realised this was nothing more than a scam. These folks were eager to charge me an upfront fee for handling my application to live in Australia, assuring me that they could secure a visa for me and my family, along with job placements. Interestingly, the fee was supposedly calculated based on the income I disclosed. I was curious about their method of communication and they mentioned they'd reach out via email and phone - quite suspiciously, they also had my email address. They pressured me to make a payment of $1,000 USD by the end of the day to kickstart the process, which they claimed would take between six and eighteen months in total. Overall, they suggested I would be looking at around $4,000 USD for the entire procedure. Checking my email, I noticed I had received a message expressing my interest in immigration to the UK just two days prior, when they first contacted me about migrating to Australia. To cap it all off, they insisted I'd need to visit the Australian Embassy in Bolivia, but to my knowledge, we don’t have one. It’s an utter scam, folks. It’s rather alarming how these folks seem intent on snagging your credit card details. The sheer number of questions they bombard you with is downright off-putting, and it always seems to culminate in them requesting your debit or credit card info. Keep your wits about you, especially with those Visa adverts popping up on Instagram. I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s where they’re fishing for your details.

It seems quite possible that you're in cahoots with those who aim to deceive individuals from Latin backgrounds.

I've received quite a few calls lately from an odd number, and to be honest, it’s left me rather perplexed. They bombard you with a slew of queries about your job, earnings, and so on. If you express a desire to pursue the visa, they then demand your card details for some supposed “verification” process to see if you can fork out the fees in Australia. It’s utterly bonkers, especially since the number starts with a UK code (+44)! These calls have been relentless, ringing at the crack of dawn until I finally caved in and answered one. Just to clarify, I’m actually from Argentina. Quite the bizarre experience, I must say!
