Didn’t pick up when I got a call from a number I didn’t recognise.

I usually don’t pick up calls from numbers I don’t know, had a look here though, and they’re blocked now.

Watch out, got a call on my landline and then again on my mobile from someone with an Indian accent who actually used my name. Said they were from Microsoft and it was Easter Saturday or something, warning me about some fraud happening on my computer. They asked to connect to my device to fix the issue. Told them to jog on straight away, and one of them unleashed the worst swearing I’ve ever heard once they realised they’d been rumbled.

I received a rather peculiar call from a woman who claimed to be representing Microsoft. She was prattling on about numerous errors supposedly emanating from my computer, which struck me as quite odd since I haven't switched it on in ages. When I asked her how it was possible for there to be issues if the device was off, she insisted they could still receive reports. I quickly realised it was nothing more than a ruse, likely followed by some offer for dubious services to "fix" the non-existent problems. I firmly told her I was aware of her little scam and promptly hung up. However, to my astonishment, when I picked the receiver back up moments later, there she was, still yammering away. I repeated my request for her to vanish, which thankfully she finally did. I promptly blocked her number.

Got this call from someone claiming to be online tech support. Sounded like a total computer scam to me. They tried to convince me to give them remote access, but I didn’t fall for it. Stay careful out there, folks!

Claimed she was ringing up about the upkeep of the windows on some sort of computer or laptop device.

It started off with weird clicking noises and some strange whirring sounds. Next, this bloke with a dodgy accent, sounded like he was from somewhere in South Asia, was on the line. I tried to give them my card and bank info right away, but they wouldn’t take it. Afterwards, they acted like they weren’t doing anything wrong, insisting they weren’t scammers. Then, without another word, they just cut me off. Total scam attempt.

The caller had a really thick Asian accent, couldn’t catch a single word they were saying. No idea who they were supposed to be or what they wanted.

Some bloke said he was with a firm that fixes Microsoft issues. He kept going on about how legit he was at sorting problems. When I refused to listen to his spiel, he tried to talk over me. I told him straight up I wasn’t going to say another word, and he could keep chatting if he liked since at least he wasn’t annoying anyone else while talking to me. The call dragged on for a bit over 5 minutes, then when I ignored a question, he just hung up on me. About 5 minutes later, the same number called again. I just let my voicemail answer it and no one left a message. Bloody idiots.

Got a call from someone who spoke really poor English, sounded Indian. He kept going on about Microsoft updates. Pretty sure the aim was to get me to install something so they could check my updates or, more probably, hack into my PC. Definitely not interested. Tried to mess with him a bit, but he was just reading from a script or something. No way I’m falling for that.

Loads of folks just out to grab cash from people who don't suspect a thing. Best steer clear and not get tangled up with them.

Some woman rang and said she was with Amazon, claiming she had my email, which freaked me out a bit. She said someone had used my email to make a dodgy purchase on their site - don’t really get how that's possible! I ended the call, but they tried ringing again, so I’m just going to block the number now!

Someone claiming to be from Microsoft Online Security kept ringing me up, about 4 times in total. I gave them a piece of my mind, saying I was already chatting with Microsoft support online who said it’s all a scam. Despite that, they kept dialling me back. Told them straight if they bother me again, I’ll be getting the police involved!

Someone phoned me claiming to be from online support, but never once said it was Microsoft. When the call rang back, the number changed and trying to ring it again just got cut off straight away. The voice wasn’t English, quite tricky to understand and very vague about details. They said they were calling from somewhere on York Street in London, W1. I tried for a good while to get more clear info but gave up and hung up. Definitely seemed dodgy to me.

I got a call from someone with a strong foreign accent claiming to be from online support. When I asked them what company they represented, they just kept saying, rather irritably, that they were calling from online support. So, I told them to go find something better to do and then ended the call.

Got a call from someone speaking with an Eastern European accent, said they were from some kind of online support but didn’t say which. I told him it was disgusting how he tries to trick people who might be vulnerable and then just hung up on him. Definitely a scammer trying to get your bank info or something, so I’m marking this number as risky.

I got a call from someone claiming my computer was sending out error alerts. I pretended to go along with it for a little while until they asked what was on my screen. I told them I hadn’t even switched my PC on and asked nicely not to be phoned again, then hung up (this was on my landline, not a mobile). Next thing, they rang back asking if I’d just put the phone down because the call dropped. I told them I wasn’t interested and, since people keep warning about these scams, I told them to send me an email with details if there really was a problem and to stop calling.
