I've had a couple of calls from this number now. Each time I answer, it's some sort of automated voice informing me that an agent from HMRC has been attempting to reach me regarding suspicious activity linked to my National Insurance number. They then instruct you to press 1, claiming that failure to do so could result in a warrant being issued for my arrest. After the initial call, I reached out to the National Crime Agency, who reassured me that any legitimate HMRC representative would readily provide a valid employee number. After receiving the second call, I attempted to call the number back with a different phone only to be met with a message saying, "the number you have dialled is unrecognised." It seems to me that this is a classic scam, designed to instil fear and pressure you into pressing 1 and divulging your NI number for nefarious purposes!
