Got a recorded message on my phone, but it was so muffled I had to listen over and over just to get their number. When I rang the number back, it was some automated thing saying I was being taken to court over something?! Then another recorded message when I called again saying the person couldn’t talk right now!! I just ended the call. There's loads I could say about these kinds of calls, but I'll keep it polite here!

I’m looking into this for some mates. This number has rung them up 4 times today with the same tale about HMRC, owing cash, and lawyers getting involved. Definitely scammers - need to be blocked.

My mum got a strange message claiming she owed tax to HMEC. I rang them up to find out what was going on, but it quickly became clear it was a scam. The bloke on the phone, who wasn’t very polite and had an obvious foreign accent, definitely wasn’t from any proper company. I told him to send us the details in writing, just to see what would happen.

Just had a rather alarming phone call from someone purporting to be from HMRC, alleging that I owed taxes dating back to the years 1995 to 2005. They insisted that my case was currently with the Supreme Court in London and that unless I agreed to pay up, the hearing would commence in just one hour - on a Saturday, no less! They suggested I could head to a large shop, like WillCo, to purchase an EFTPVS and put the funds on it. Apparently, a legal representative would then come to collect the payment, thereby putting an end to the court proceedings. If I refused, they ominously warned that the police would be dispatched to arrest me. Quite the scare tactic!

Just got a few voicemails from these guys - they keep sending the same confusing message non stop this week. A couple things to keep in mind: 1) dont share any personal info with them 2) hmrc will not ring you up about this kinda stuff 3) and if you try to ring hmrc back, they usually dont pick up right away. Stay cautious!

Received a call claiming it was HMRC saying I owed them loads of money and if I, or my lawyer, didn't ring back, they'd start legal proceedings! Quite strange since HMRC already sent me a refund, saying they owed me cash! The recording was really bad quality. The call wasn’t addressed to anyone specific. Calls like this could really scare older people, so something needs to be done to stop them! I'm definitely going to report this scam to HMRC right away.

Don't bother ringing them back or replying to this number. I'm sure I dont owe them any money. The call sounded really distorted, so you might feel like calling just to check, but seriously, don't do it! BT or whoever should really have the tech to block these annoying calls completely.

Someone rang me at this number but I missed the call. I rang 1471 to check and heard a fuzzy recording of a woman with a thick African accent. A little later, I called 1471 once more and caught an English bloke who said he was from HM Excise and Customs and asked how he could assist me. When I told him he was the one who called me, he just hung up straight away.

I would really appreciate it if someone could help me identify the caller, as they’ve left a rather alarming message claiming to be from the Inland Revenue. They mentioned something about having confidential information and insisted that we should get a solicitor to ring this number, stressing that we mustn't disregard it.
