Same thing happened to me but from 02032909346. Caller said it was urgent and I needed to get in touch with Customs and Revenue. Told them to speak to my solicitor and that I’d call back - said it was really important. Funny thing is, the person sounded American! Didn’t ring back, but worried others might freak out and call back straight away, who knows what could happen then.

Just got a call at 11:18 this morning, and I’ve seen this same scam pop up on my landline before.

My elderly mum, who’s 81, got a call from these people today and they really scared her by threatening court action in the Supreme Court of London. That’s totally false because the Supreme Court handles appeals, so their whole story is bogus. They were rattling off what sounded like official tax jargon and insisted she needed to act immediately, with all kinds of threats and pressure. When I called them (the names they gave were Richard Smith and James Watson), they refused to repeat the supposed case details or any reference numbers and then just hung up on me. Later, when I tried to get back through, Mr Watson was suddenly not available. This scam is absolutely heartless. They even said they’d make details public in the press and threatened prison time and confiscating property. I work in law myself, and it took me a good while to convince my mum it was all a pack of lies, especially since she doesn’t use the internet and couldn’t verify anything herself.

Claimed to be from HMRC, said they had sent me a letter about owing money, and rattled off a load of regulations. Told me their officer tried to deliver the letter but no one was at home. I'm retired, as is my partner, and we're in most of the time. They gave me a warrant ID and really scared me. These scammers just won’t give up and have a pre-recorded message ready if they reach your voicemail. The recording says something like: “We require you or your legal representative to get back to us regarding this urgent matter.” Then their voicemail message goes: “This is a highly urgent issue. This morning I got a call from 02031293315 claiming it was from HMRC. When I called back, some bloke who sounded American said I owed money for tax evasion. He told me his name was Richard Smith and gave me some employer number 947156 plus an address at 100 Parliament Street London SW1 2BQ. He even warned there was a warrant for my arrest and I'd have to turn up at the Supreme Court. I just told him it was a total scam and if they wanted to arrest me, they could come and try!

On the 4th of November 2017, a robotic voice claiming to be from this number rang me up and then left a message on my voicemail warning me about legal trouble. Got an automated voicemail 4 times today supposedly from HMRC telling me I’m in trouble legally. I’ve worked at HMRC before so knew straight away it was dodgy. They wouldn’t ring a personal number at 7.20 in the morning, and they definitely wouldn’t use an automated message for such a serious issue. This number has left me about half a dozen voicemails across Friday, Monday and Tuesday, and I've had a few from them before too. Seems like they don't operate on weekends! This time, they asked for our solicitor to call them back, but before that, they wanted us to ring this number to talk things over and supposedly stop legal action against us. Honestly, is there no legal way to get this number taken off the directory so it can't be used, or maybe slap a fine on them? It's a London-based number, after all.

Got this call two times today. First one was at 7:20 in the morning and another just now around 1 in the afternoon. Not sure who used to have my number but I keep getting people asking for some bloke who ain’t me. Pretty sure it's scammers, really wish they’d just leave me alone.

Got called on the phone thrice today by some robo-message telling me to urgently contact the tax people. I already have their number handy and some free time, so I’m thinking of adding their number to my spam list alongside other dodgy callers - maybe they’ll end up bothering each other and waste their own time! If anyone’s up for it, chuck me some spam phone numbers you’ve got lying around and we can have a laugh together.

These idiots rang an elderly lady who used to work with us, claiming to be from HMRC and demanding £2900 or someone would show up at her house. She’s 80 years old and was in tears on the phone to me, saying she can’t afford it and feels really low. She sounded like she might do something desperate until I found this site and called her back to explain it was all a scam. Now I’m ringing that number over and over and I’m not stopping until I get through and give them a piece of my mind. They’re bloody scammers from India, and I’m Indian myself, so they’re about to get what they deserve.

Totally dodgy scammers called saying my husband hadn’t done his HMRC tax returns and that he was about to get nicked. I asked the bloke to prove he knew my husband’s birthday and he said he couldn’t as it was a recorded call. I told him it’s cheeky to ask for private info and then not give any proof back. Gave him a right piece of my mind, well deserved.

Got a call from a woman saying I need to ring this number or get my lawyer to call back about some urgent legal matter. She said it's really time sensitive and gave the number 02031293315. Told me not to ignore it or they'd start legal proceedings against me. Sounds like one of those dodgy calls to me.
