I picked up the phone and there was silence on the other end, just a call made by some automatic dialer.

Got a call from a guy, sounded Asian, claiming he was from Microsoft. Told me my computer was hacked or I’d got some nasty file, and apparently my info was being sold online. Said he was calling from overseas. I joked, “Mumbai?” and he was like, “What’s Mumba?” Then asked if I suspected anything, I said yeah, and he just hung up! Bit annoying, but since I was home I thought I’d mess around with him a bit... Hopefully this helps stop others from falling for the scam.

Somebody rang me saying they were from Microsoft, claimed my computer was sending out error alerts or something like that. They asked if I’d noticed any issues or if my stuff was getting hacked or downloaded without permission. When they asked me to switch on my PC, I said it was already on and working fine. After that I told them to get lost a few times and they just ended the call!
