Don't be daft and never let anyone have remote access to your computer! If your computer makes strange noises or warns you it's infected, ignore the number they tell you to call. Just restart your machine or open the task manager, then find your browser - be it Chrome, Firefox, or whatever - and click 'end task'. You'll likely end up on a scammer's contact list, and they'll keep pestering you for more scams, chasing easy cash. Stay sharp!

Just got a call from this number and the bloke called himself Sandeep the Prince. He claimed he’d send me a bank transfer of a million US dollars and I went along with it. Then he asked for my 16-digit card number, expiry date, the 3-digit code on the back, plus a copy of my signature and driving licence. Well, guess that’s it for now - fingers crossed!

I got a call on my Pixel and it showed up as a 'Possible Spam Number', so I decided not to answer. Checking here afterwards made me glad I ignored it. With the Android phone app’s spam caller detection getting better, I reckon these annoying calls will be less of a problem soon. Definitely recommend downloading the app if your phone supports it - it warns you about likely spam calls before you pick up.

Find an ancient fax, scribble some nonsense on a sheet and pop it through the machine. Just as the page is halfway ejected, attach the bottom to the top to make a never ending loop. Then if they ask for a ring back, use the fax to call them instead... ;)

These types of callers keep pushing you to respond to their questions, even though they insist it’s not a survey. The info they gather is just sold on to other telemarketers. Sometimes, they identify themselves as "UK lifestyle." If you’re daft enough to reply to any of their queries, expect a swarm of similar calls afterwards. For example, they might ask, “What brand is your TV?” It sounds harmless at first, but within a few months you’ll get calls pretending to be from your TV maker trying to flog you an extended warranty. Obviously, it’s a scam and the so-called warranty is useless. They can get quite pushy, even threatening to keep calling until you answer. I’ve known people who had to change their phone numbers just to escape the hassle.

Consumer Lifestyles are a complete nightmare. I'm in full-time work and then I come home to look after my mum who suffers from dementia. So when I finally get a moment to chill, these annoying callers just don’t get the message - I’m not interested! They keep calling over and over. I even had to tell them to buzz off, but they still rang again the following day. It's getting to the point where it feels like harassment, seriously something has to be done about this.

I find these calls pretty irritating but sometimes I just play along for a laugh, have a bit of banter and ask them silly questions like their bank details. Once it’s clear it’s dodgy, I just hang up, no bother. What really gets me is the poor elderly folks who fall for all that rubbish - they’re the ones who suffer. These scammers are nothing but criminals and honestly, they should be put out of action.

At first, I got a call from a woman with an English accent who said something about me having an accident that wasn’t my fault. When I asked what company she was with, she just cut me off and ended the call. Then, not long after, a man with an African accent, calling himself Michael, rang me. He said I had been speaking to his colleague and again mentioned the accident being no fault of mine. I tried to get the company's name from him but he spoke so fast I couldn’t catch it. When I asked for the date of the accident, he said it didn’t matter, but I pointed out that it did, so I could check if this was genuine. I made him repeat himself a few times but he eventually just hung up. I've had these calls from different numbers but it's always the same voices.

A person called my job using this number, claiming we'd ordered a magazine and that it was ready to be posted along with the bill. She wanted to confirm our address. When I asked her which address she had, it was totally different, even in another county. I told her that's not right, and she accused me of lying before hanging up. If you’re getting calls from the same number over and over, don’t just ignore it. Block them as soon as they ring you. It doesn’t matter if you pick up or not, you can block any number. On Android, open your recent calls, tap the number, then in the top right, hit the menu that says MORE, and select ADD TO BLOCK LIST. Keep blocking any number bothering you like this.

They called me claiming my computer was throwing up error messages, saying they were from Microsoft - which I knew was a load of rubbish. After giving some instructions, they handed me over to their so-called tech team for more “help.” I just pretended to be clueless to drag it out. One time, I kept the guy on the line until he asked for my IP address, then I told him I was just winding him up. Seeing what others have said, I reckon the best thing to do if you’ve been getting calls on your mobile is to just block the number yourself. Just open up your phone and head to the recent calls list. Then tap on the details or info symbol. If you’re using an iPhone, you can scroll down and find an option to block the caller. For some Android models, it can be a bit tricky - you might have to save the number in your contacts first, then open it up and block it from there. Give it a try, it worked for me!

I found a neat trick to mess with scammers - get a caller timer or redial app, then dial *67 before calling ‘em back using the app. If loads of folks gave it a go, it might really clog their lines and stop them from ripping others off so easily. Took me a while to spot a good one, but there’s an app by “water” that works well for this. I usually just leave it running all day while it’s charging.

Got a ring from this number earlier, and the person wanted to talk to someone with a certain name. I told them that no one by that name lives here. They asked again, but I repeated the same. Then they got quite rude, saying things like "Why’re you lying? Just say if you don't want my service." Then they just hung up. I tried to find out what they were selling or who they were, but they wouldn’t give me their name or company. Proper strange call.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from "England Claim Services" about a loan I supposedly had, although it was actually my son who took it out years ago. They said the loan was from a certain year and that their claims team would contact me with some paperwork. I asked them where they were located, and they said Manchester. When I checked the number with 1471, it was a long digits starting with 0088202. The call came through on a 0203 number. There was a short pause before a woman called Tracy from some "claims advisory service" answered, saying she was following up on the earlier call. I asked her for her phone number, but she just hung up on me! Honestly, you'd think they'd be used to people trying to waste their time like this. Wish there was a way to stop these annoying calls completely!

This morning, around 11:38, I got a call from this number too. It was one of those automated messages trying to sell a government program for swapping out old boilers, mentioning Worcester Bosch specifically. I’m getting bombarded with up to three of these same calls every day - some come from this number, others show up as international on my caller ID. I’ve reported them to the ICO already.

Got a call from this number around lunchtime on 7th May 2014, about 12:12 pm. I said hello but no reply, just silence at first. Then I heard this annoying high-pitched voice going "hi hi hi" with some noise in the background like people chatting and clattering pots or something. I stayed quiet and just listened for a bit, then they suddenly just ended the call.

On the 6th of May, 2014, someone rang up saying my computer had been hacked. They reckoned it was a server issue messing up my tech stuff and that I had probably caught a virus from something I’d downloaded. The voice had a strong Asian accent. I tried calling them back three times, and each time they warned me that if I didn’t get my computer fixed, I’d be locked out of my system.
