Got a call from a guy with a heavy Indian accent, said he was from some department linked to the national grid, looking into an issue with our electric bill going up. Was hard to catch everything he said, but it felt fishy to me, like a scam or something. Definitely not convinced it was legit.

Over the course of two days, I got phone calls from different people but both had really thick Indian accents. They claimed to be from Maxim, which they said is the parent company of Octopus, and mentioned something about OFGEM complaining our bills were too costly. They offered to take over our account and promised a 15% discount on both gas and electricity. The caller even said that added up to a 30% cut, which sounded fishy. Needless to say, I hung up and blocked the number straight away.

Got a call from some trading company supposedly from Geneva, trying to rope me into investing and trading with them. When I asked about their regulator and the reference number, they just wouldn't spill the details. If you’re in the UK, make sure you pick an FCA regulated broker. Don't bother with firms based in Switzerland, regardless of how cheap or well they claim to do. Staying safe is more important than saving a few quid!
