This bloke rang up about a 3 year warranty on some cog for my washing machine that’s apparently registered to my address, but he couldn’t even tell me the model number when I asked. Then he just went quiet and dropped the call. How on earth do they know stuff like that?

I got a call a few days ago from someone claiming to be with a home assistance group, asking about renewing the cover for our washing machine. We do have insurance on it, but it’s with a different company and I just sorted it out recently. Felt a bit fishy!
