Saw the number was unfamiliar and decided to let it ring through to my voicemail, which is what I usually do for calls from unknown numbers - helps me keep track of who’s trying to call. The moment my answerphone message kicked in, the caller just hung up, which I take as a sign it's likely a scam. Also, when I looked the number up on Google, there was no trace of any real business or person linked to it.

As soon as I told them I wasn't interested in their service, they just hung up on me. Proper rude!

SCAM ALERT He said his number was 0203 951 0235, but after checking my caller ID (1471), I saw he was actually ringing from 02030871561. The guy said he was from ‘Home Support’ and that they’d taken over my washing machine insurance. He tried to convince me to switch by offering a ‘discount’ - £119 instead of £150 for a year, or £299 instead of £450 for three years. He told me the renewal date was coming up next week. When I asked how much I was currently paying via direct debit, he suddenly got quiet, then just hung up. Total dodgy behaviour!
