She kept going on about me supposedly having been in an accident, even though I said I didn’t want to hear any more from her. I didn’t share any info, but calls like this can be really distressing, especially for older folks. They should be careful with this kind of thing.

Got a call from someone named Lillian Barney, claiming to be from Calamity Advice. It was one of those dodgy recorded calls fishing about "your recent car accident". The message had these awkward pauses, like it was waiting for you to speak, then replies based on certain words you say. If you admit to having an accident, it'll patch you through to an actual person. If you try asking her name or who she’s from again, she repeats it without fail. But ask anything else or challenge her, and the line just cuts off on you. Proper dodgy setup.

Both times she kept telling me I'd been in an accident that supposedly wasn’t my fault. Thing is, I don’t share my phone number with anyone, so I asked her where she’d found it. Got a ring from 020 8042 2631, some so called Calamity talkin' about an accident I've supposedly been in. Complete nonsense! I swear I never give my phone to anyone except my family, but it looks like some firm sold my details to loads of telesales companies who just spam numbers hoping someone bites. Got a call on my phone at 12:37 from 02070953802, some woman talking fast about a ‘car accident I supposedly had’. Got a call from 02080765400 recently. Some lady from Calamity Claim Management was on the line asking about an accident I supposedly had. After that, they passed me over to a bloke. He wouldn’t give me more than just “London” as their location and when I questioned where they got my info from, he claimed it was the Road Traffic Accident Department (yeah, right). Then, when I asked how they managed to get my personal mobile number, he just ended the call.

Got a call from 020 3078 7182 today. A woman said she was Lillian Barney from something like Calamity Advice, asking if I’d been in a recent accident.
