Thankfully, I’d just watched a BBC YouTube video titled ‘Fake Amazon Scam Puts Thousands at Risk’ which helped me spot it. They asked me to check my basket on a website, not the app, where supposedly the phones would be visible. Meanwhile, they tried to get me to share an OTP that popped up, pretending it was to ‘verify’ the purchase.
