If someone’s annoyed by a scam call, focus your anger on the scammer for being dodgy, not for their background. got a ring from these "charming folks" claiming they wanted to "verify" our business info to help boost our presence on some local business directory or whatever it was, supposed to improve our google visibility... I told them straight up I had no clue what this "local directory" thing was and that we weren’t interested in changing anything since we already rank pretty well on google :) The bloke sounded a bit let down, so I took the chance to politely ask them not to bother ringing again... we’ll see if that sticks...

It's really tough to feel connected to our Asian community when we're constantly targeted from every direction. Some days, I get around 10 calls from these petty criminals, and when you’re just trying to relax at home, it feels like a huge invasion. The phone companies won’t block them because they’re making way too much money from it. Honestly, compared to what might come next, these times will seem quite easy. If we got rid of all immigrants and made everyone on benefits work, I reckon we’d be in a much better place as a country.

Got a call from a lady who spoke with an Asian accent. She was asking for my wife and wanted to check if we’re getting annoying calls. Then she tried to get our name and address, which I didn’t give out. She said they can’t really stop those unwanted calls anyway. I said alright and hung up. Seems like a scam to me.

Had a ring from a guy with an Asian accent claiming he was from some phone preference service, checking if the nuisance call block was doing its job. I told him, apart from his call, it’s fine. Also got a different unknown number ringing me just yesterday. Today, the same bloke wanted to confirm my name, address, and postcode. Then, he asked for proof we pay our phone bill by direct debit. Next, he pushed for the expiry date on my debit card, saying his records showed it expired in 2017. I told him that didn’t matter, but he insisted he needed to check. Sounds like he was just trying to put together a profile, probably after bank info if I hadn’t been wary straight away. I usually hang up quick if there’s a delay before they speak or if their English sounds off. There’s far too much private info out there for dodgy people to abuse.

Got two calls from the same number today. The first bloke tried to check my ID by asking for my card’s expiry date, said it was about some TPS thing. I refused, and he got a bit pushy and rude, so I told him I was hanging up and did just that. Couple minutes later, he called back apologising for not letting him speak! Some bloke with a pretty heavy Indian accent called me, claiming he was from Telephone Preference Management, saying it was a verification call. I told him right off to take my number off his list for good. He said he’d remove it after the verification and asked if I was still getting unwanted calls. Very similar to what others have mentioned, I got a call from a man with an Asian accent, asking for a Mr Fletcher - which isn’t someone at this address. He claimed to be from Telephone Preference Management. I corrected him and said it’s the Telephone Preference Service that’s genuine. He admitted that but then went on to say the TPS doesn’t block overseas calls. I told him the same applied to him and asked him to take me off his calling list. Like many, the phone rang again not long after, and since no one was there when I answered, I just hung up.

Calls from India, supposedly “not telesales” - what a joke! They’re just after your credit card info, a total pain in the neck. I get about three calls every day. The more you shout at them, the more they keep calling, so it’s easier to just hang up straight away! Even better, you might as well change your phone number. Once these lot have your digits, they pass them around to other scam firms and it all starts again. Your phone number becomes rubbish, sold and resold endlessly.

Got a call from 0203600651 claiming it was some kind of teleconference, but it seemed dodgy. They just wanted to discuss credit and debit cards - felt like a total scam. Definitely be careful if that number rings you.

Got a call from an Asian gent claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Manager. He asked for my card info, said it was just to check my registration details. I kept telling him I'm registered under my name, not my card. Total scam, don't be fooled. Such a pain in the neck!

Got a call from this number saying they were from the TPS checking if I was still getting unwanted calls. The person, sounded Indian or something like that, asked me to verify my address, which she then repeated back to me. Next, she wanted me to confirm the expiry date on my bank card, but I said no. She then pushed quite hard, telling me to fetch the card and give her the date. That's when I just ended the call. Funny thing is, I’ve already signed up with TPS about junk calls!

Got a call this morning from a bloke with an Indian accent asking if I get a lot of nuisance calls. I told him, "only yours," then ended the call quick sharp! Blocked the number straight away.

A man with an Asian accent rang, saying he was from Telephone Preference or something like that. Honestly, did he really think we were born yesterday? When he tried to get us to verify a bunch of details, the answer was a big NO from me!

some bloke called me on this number saying he was from the telephone preference service and wanted me to confirm stuff like whether i pay my bill by direct debit. when i asked why he needed that info, he just hung up. obviously, he wasnt with tps! i’ve reported it to them.
