It's quite disheartening to witness such overt prejudice in some of the comments here. Frankly, I believe that our nation can't truly thrive while this kind of bitter ignorance is allowed to fester in our discourse. Let’s remember, if you're dealing with a fraudulent caller, your ire should be directed at the unscrupulous individual engaging in that dodgy business, rather than the country of origin. More often than not, these calls are being run by wealthy, tax-evading Englishmen who are the real culprits behind these scams.

Had a rather interesting phone call from some so-called "helpful folks" today. They claimed they were wanting to "verify" our business information in order to enhance our presence on a local trade directory for better visibility on Google. I must admit, I had no clue what they meant by trade directory, and I made it clear that we weren't interested in updating anything since we’re already quite prominent on Google! The chap on the line seemed a bit let down by my response, so I seized the opportunity to politely request that they refrain from calling us in the future. We shall see how that pans out...

It’s truly challenging to embrace our Asian community when we find ourselves under constant duress from various fronts. On some days, I receive a staggering ten calls from these opportunistic scammers, and it feels like such an overwhelming breach of privacy when I'm trying to relax at home. The telecommunications companies seem utterly apathetic, as the financial rewards from these calls are simply too lucrative for them to ignore. Frankly, the state of affairs we’re experiencing now might one day be viewed as a golden era, as it feels like we’re hanging by a thread as a society. If we were to send all immigrants packing and mandate that everyone receiving benefits must contribute to society, we could really transform this nation into something remarkable.

Got a call again from a bloke with a thick asian accent. He kept saying he’s kosher or whatever. But if it’s legit, why can’t he just send an email? I told him to jog on, said I’m not interested in these shady calls. Used the Guardian feature on my BT phone to block the number. Doubt it’ll do much though, these lot always find a way round it. Got a call from a lady who spoke with an Asian accent. She was asking for my wife and wanted to check if we’re getting annoying calls. I had a rather unsettling phone call from this number, echoing the experiences of others who’ve commented. What’s particularly alarming is the amount of personal information this caller seemed to possess. I repeatedly expressed my suspicion that this was a scam, but he retorted with, “Well then, enjoy your nuisance calls,” before abruptly ending the conversation. Quite infuriating, really!

They called saying they were from the TPS. I told them I was aware they weren't legit, but let them continue out of curiosity. They asked if I'd been getting annoying calls, I said no, not before their call. Then they said they had to do some sort of test. At that point I just said I knew it was a scam and they were fibbing, and they hung up. Weirdly, they knew my name even though we're ex-directory and signed up with the TPS.

I received a phone call from someone purporting to be from the Telephone Preference Service. I had a feeling they weren’t genuine, but I was curious to see how the conversation would unfold, so I played along. They inquired whether I had been receiving bothersome calls, to which I replied, “Not until your call today!” They then mentioned the need to conduct some sort of test. It was at that moment I called them out, stating I was aware it was a scam and that they were being dishonest. They wasted no time in hanging up. What perplexes me, though, is how they managed to know my name, especially since we’re registered as ex-directory and have opted into the TPS.

Then she asked for my card info, I only told her the expiry date before it clicked that this was dodgy. She hung up quick once she knew I wasn’t fallin for it.

Had a couple of calls from this number today. The first one was just like the others I've read about - something to do with TPS. They wanted to confirm my identity by asking for the expiry date on my card. When I said I wasn’t comfortable with that, he became quite pushy and rather brusque, which led me to inform him I was ending the call. Miraculously, he rang back a couple of minutes later, claiming to apologise for not giving me a fair hearing! The chap, who sounded Asian, couldn't even pronounce my name properly! Later on, another Asian-sounding bloke called, asking for someone whose name I couldn't make out at all, and when I told him it was the wrong number, he just hung up. Honestly, these nuisances really ought to be put in their place.

Got a call from an Asian lady claiming to be from TPS, said I'd stop getting annoying calls. Asked if the phone was mine - I said no, it's registered to my husband. Then she asked if I paid the bill with a debit card and wanted to check the card number. Told her I don’t use debit cards, then she asked for cheque book details. I said I don’t have one and wasn’t feeling comfortable with her questions, so I just ended the call.

A guy speaking with a thick Indian accent claimed to be from Telephone Preference Management, saying it was some kind of verification call. I told him to remove my number from their database for good. He asked why I didn’t trust him. I kept telling him to “Take my number off right now,” “Delete it,” “Cancel it permanently from your list.” He kept insisting he would get rid of it after this ‘verification’ call. I said, “Do it immediately.” Then I stayed quiet but didn’t hang up. After about 4 minutes, he finally gave up and hung up.

I received a phone call from a chap who had quite a pronounced Indian accent, claiming to be representing the Telephone Preference Management service for a verification process. I was quite firm and instructed him to remove my number from his records immediately and entirely. He insisted he'd do so after completing this verification call and inquired if I was still getting unwanted calls. I made it clear that his call was nothing but an annoyance and reiterated my demand for him to erase my number completely. I found myself repeating that after nearly every statement he made. After a bit, I unintentionally set the phone down without disconnecting so he could carry on his conversation as long as he wished. In the end, he decided to hang up.

Just today, around half four in the afternoon, I received a call that caught me off guard. An Asian chap was on the line claiming he was calling in connection with the Telephone Preference Service. He inquired whether I had been bothered by any unwanted calls recently. Naturally, I acknowledged that I had indeed experienced some nuisance. When he pressed for details on the latest offender, I bluntly informed him, "You're my most recent annoyance." A couple of choice words slipped out before I hung up and promptly added his number to my rather extensive collection of blocked contacts.

Got loads of calls from a lady with a foreign accent claiming to be from “Telephone Preference Management” - which is NOT the real ‘TPS’ I’m registered with! Proper persistent as well. Even after I told her I knew it was a con. The first three times the number just showed as ‘OUT OF AREA UNAVAILABLE’. Then the fourth time, it came from 02030641213. I've received a handful of calls from this particular number, and I've adopted a new strategy: if I don’t recognise the caller, I simply let it ring through to the answering machine before bothering to answer it. Interestingly, this number never bothered to leave a message. A quick search online revealed it to be possibly bothersome at best, and a total scam at worst. My advice? If the caller is unknown, it's best to just ignore the call. If it's legitimate, they’ll surely leave a message. It's all about being vigilant these days, isn’t it?

Similar to what many folks have mentioned, I received a call from a chap with a distinctly Asian accent who was inquiring after someone named Mr. Fletcher - a name that certainly isn’t associated with my line. He introduced himself as being from Telephone Preference Management. I pointed out that this was different from the well-known Telephone Preference Service that I trust. There was an agreement on his part, but he insisted that the TPS wasn't effective against unwanted international calls. I retorted that neither was he, and demanded he take my number off his list. True to form, not long after, my phone buzzed again. When I answered, there was nothing but silence, so I promptly ended the call.

We've received calls from this number twice in just two days. First, it was an Asian man, followed by an Asian woman, both claiming to be from a telephone preference service and then requests for our card details and security codes. The initial call, which had withheld the number, was abruptly terminated by my husband who firmly stated he wouldn't share such sensitive information, recognising it as a scam. They disconnected straight away. The very next morning, this same outfit rang again, leaving this contact number and asking the same intrusive questions. My husband insisted it was definitely a scam and told the woman on the line not to ring us again, accusing them of working for a fraudulent company. Once again, they hung up. I truly hope someone can take action to put an end to this kind of deceitful behaviour.

Received a rather annoying call from a chap with an Asian accent who completely butchered my name. He inquired whether I was still getting those bothersome calls. I told him straight that indeed I was, and he was certainly one of them - then I hung up. Fast forward about four hours, and lo and behold, the same number rings again! It was him once more, still struggling with my name as he did previously. This time, however, he ended the call on me before I could even get a word in. It feels rather deliberate, like he was trying to get under my skin after I interrupted his little game. I've decided that this number will remain unanswered from now on - it’s simply not worth my time.

Got a call from this number earlier. The person said they were calling from the TPS. She wanted me to verify my husband’s info, which was odd since the phone is registered in my name. When I said I didn’t think I should share any info, she just ended the call.

Got a call at my mum’s from someone claiming to be from TPS, asking about her bank sort code for some 'upgrade' thing. Luckily she’s clever and made them wait a bit before just putting the phone down.

Registered with TPS, never heard of telephone preference management before. An Asian woman on the phone got really tense when i asked her for her name and where she lived so i could report it to the police??

Some guy called me, said his name was Adam and claimed he was from the TPS. He kept asking when my bank card was due to expire. I told him flat out I wouldn’t share any bank info. He kept pushing, mentioning years like 2017 or 2018, so I just hung up.

Got a call from someone with an Indian accent claiming to be from tps, they knew my name and address and mentioned I pay my phone bill via direct debit. When I asked questions, they said they weren’t after my bank details but wanted to know when my card expires. Then they suddenly said it was 2018, which confused me. When I said I wasn’t certain, they kept insisting I check it. I told them I couldn’t right now and then they just said they didn’t care anymore and hung up.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from TPS. She already knew my name, address and postcode. Then she asked me if I pay my phone bill through direct debit. When I questioned why TPS needed to know that, she just ended the call.

I keep receiving calls from this number, but I always cut the line. There's a noticeable delay before anyone chimes in, so I advise just terminating the call!

Calls from India, supposedly “not telesales” - what a joke! They’re just after your credit card info, a total pain in the neck. I get about three calls every day. The more you shout at them, the more they keep calling, so it’s easier to just hang up straight away! Even better, you might as well change your phone number. Once these lot have your digits, they pass them around to other scam firms and it all starts again. Your phone number becomes rubbish, sold and resold endlessly.

I'm constantly receiving calls for my elderly parents, who are 84 and 90 years old. It's become quite distressing for them. Is there a way to block these calls? They're really finding it upsetting.

I received a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be Adam, who identified himself as being of Asian descent. Apparently, he was reaching out to inform me that the Telephone Preference Service was going to set up a lifetime call-blocking feature for me, but then he requested my banking information. I told him to clear off!

Got a call from 0203600651 claiming it was some kind of teleconference, but it seemed dodgy. They just wanted to discuss credit and debit cards - felt like a total scam. Definitely be careful if that number rings you.

I received a call from an Asian gentleman claiming to be with the Telephone Preference Manager. He was fishing for my credit card information, stating it was necessary for my registration. I let him know that my registration was under my name, not my card details. It’s clearly a scam, so beware of this nonsense! What an utter bother!

Got a call from this number saying they were from the TPS checking if I was still getting unwanted calls. The person, sounded Indian or something like that, asked me to verify my address, which she then repeated back to me. Next, she wanted me to confirm the expiry date on my bank card, but I said no. She then pushed quite hard, telling me to fetch the card and give her the date. That's when I just ended the call. Funny thing is, I’ve already signed up with TPS about junk calls!

An Asian chap rang me up, pretending to represent the Telephone Preference Service! Does he really think we’re gullible enough to buy that? He wanted to verify a mountain of personal details. I told him, "Not a chance!"
