10 yearsI've recently received this call as well and decided to look up the number. It turns out it was a chap claiming to be from some computer service, insisting that I needed to start up my PC because I'd supposedly downloaded dodgy files. When I inquired about where he was calling from, he mentioned something about being a Windows service provider. Naturally, I told him that I wasn't going to switch it on, as I didn't trust his identity one bit. His response was a rather surprised 'oh gosh' followed by laughter before he abruptly hung up. What a bunch of bumbling fools! They really should find a more productive way to spend their time rather than trying to swindle people.10 yearsWe've had a bit of a situation with our husband’s insistence on this tech. Let’s just say, we’re not exactly whizzes when it comes to computers the way he is. Following the guidance given turned out to be a proper scam. Not ten seconds post call, my laptop started making a horrendous racket, so I wisely shut it down. Alas, it’s now rendered useless; I can't seem to get it back on. It appears the hard drive may have taken a right bashing! I’m at a loss as to how to remedy this. Whatever you do, steer clear of this!10 yearsSomeone rang me pretending to be from Microsoft, offering to guide me through a series of steps to mend my computer. But let’s be honest, that’s a blatant ruse!Microsoft10 yearsOn Friday, the 3rd of September, we received a call that mirrored a typical scam. A so-called "Mr Windows" technician informed us that a file was allegedly downloaded to our computer, which would supposedly slow it down and compromise our data. He offered to fix the issue as soon as we rebooted our system. Our reaction? Absolutely not! We attempted to return the call to the 9991 number, but surprise, surprise, it turned out to be an unresponsive line. It seems to me that these individuals are merely preying on those who may not be savvy with technology, attempting to glean banking information from unsuspecting victims as soon as they find someone less informed.Windows11 yearsWe received an identical call that we handed over to our other half, since neither of us are particularly savvy with technology like he is. She took the guidance to heart and, honestly, it turned out to be a scam. Just ten seconds after the call ended, my laptop started emitting a dreadful sound, so I switched it off. Now, it simply won’t power back on. It seems like everything on the hard drive has vanished! I’m still trying to figure out if there’s any hope of recovery. Whatever you do, steer clear of this madness!!11 yearsI had a call from a chap named Steve who claimed to be dealing with some sort of problem regarding Windows. The moment we inquired about the company he allegedly represented, he promptly said it was Microsoft. We ended the conversation pretty quickly after that. When we tried to ring back the number he called us from, 02030519991, not a single call went through. Just a heads up - it’s a scam! Stay vigilant!SteveMicrosoft11 yearsAbsolutely! We received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, insisting that there was a problem with our computer’s browser. She asked us to power up our PC so she could supposedly rectify the issue. We politely declined, and lo and behold, she hung up straight away! Trying to ring back the number she used-predictably, it was 02030519991-we found a message stating it couldn’t accept incoming calls. Classic scam behaviour!Microsoft12 yearsOne has to question the intelligence behind it all! I mean, it's been a fortnight, and yet I'm left wondering how on earth you managed to misplace your data on your laptop?Submit Your Own Report (020 3051 9991)
