My dad got done by some scammers who told him he needed to pay £173 just to keep his ticket valid for 8 months. He never got any confirmation at all, and the ticket wasn’t actually kept open. After that, they started withdrawing loads of money from his bank under the name booking.com. Tried calling the number but it just goes straight to voicemail now.
