My elderly mother, who is in her eighties and completely out of her depth with technology, recently got a rather alarming phone call from someone claiming to be from 'Windows, Microsoft Department'. They insisted her computer was on the brink of crashing and offered to sort it out for £140. When she asked for the name of the person on the line, he said it was John Bell. She mentioned having spoken previously to another chap named Albert Martin, both of whom had accents that didn't sound British at all. This has left her feeling quite anxious about the whole situation.

My sister received a similar phone call as well. The bloke named Albert Martin provided this very number. He somehow managed to mess with her computer settings, flooding it with fake virus alerts and a persistent pop-up claiming her screen wasn't secure. Unfortunately, that pesky pop-up couldn't be dismissed at all. To top it off, her computer keeps rebooting every few minutes, which is utterly infuriating! I’m currently attempting to tackle the situation using AVG to see if I can rectify the mess.

They're threatening to take us to court over our computer supposedly causing issues with Microsoft. It's utterly ridiculous, to say the least!

I received a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft technical support, alleging that there was some nasty malware lurking on my computer. They requested remote access to fix the so-called issue. What’s more, they provided a number for me to call back, which seemed rather suspect.
