This afternoon around 4.45pm, my work phone rang from this number. A bloke with what sounded like an Indian accent asked if I’d had a recent car crash, saying something like “you been in an accident recently, haven’t you?” When I told him I don’t drive at all, he got a bit lost and hung up straight away. Funny enough, just a few seconds later my coworker sitting right beside me got the same call from the exact same number. Looks like they’re just going through a random list trying to snag people’s info.

Got two calls in the space of ten mins from someone claiming to be with an accident advice unit, then the accident health line or something similar. Both times they said it was about an accident i supposedly had. When i told them i never had one, they just kept insisting i had! They mentioned i might get about £3000 compensation, so I guess they might have been fishing for my bank info, but luckily i didn’t give them anything. They said Aviva gave them my info when I asked where they got my details from, which honestly made me a bit uneasy. When i pressed to know exactly what Aviva had told them about this alleged accident, the caller suddenly quietened down and said it was irrelevant. Really dodgy behaviour.

When I probed him about the accident, he hung up after failing to provide a convincing response about how he obtained my information. Just a mere ten minutes later, I got another call, this time from another chap with an Indian accent, identifying himself as part of the accident health line. Again, he inquired about the so-called accident and boldly mentioned that I was eligible for a £3000 compensation. I strongly suspect he was about to request my banking details had I not laid into him regarding the origin of my information. He mentioned A Viva, but the moment I raised my voice, he swiftly ended the call.

For the past week, I’ve been receiving calls from this number repeatedly. At times, they leave no sound, while others they cut straight to voicemail. Earlier today, I answered and it was a chap named Imran, delivering the same old routine about the Accident Advice Service. I reached out to Virgin, my telephone provider, and they’ve informed me that they can’t intervene unless I change my number. Isn’t there a way for someone to investigate who’s behind these nagging calls and put a stop to them? It seems rather dodgy that they can’t be reached and keep pestering folks. Just got a call a little while back from a woman with an accent, asking if I was involved in some accident. I cut in straight away, asking if she was from the police and if the accident was supposed to have happened yesterday near my place (which it definitely didn’t). She insisted we know about the accident, but I kept grilling her, asking when exactly it took place and for more details. After messing around for about five minutes, she finally said sorry, but I told her no, you’re not telling the truth and then she hung up. Felt good to have wasted a bit of her time!

They claimed to be from the Claims Information Service or something like that, offering help with a claim for a car accident injury. I told them I wasn’t hurt, and they acted all disappointed!
