I played along for a bit, then they tried to prove they were legit by getting me to pull up a number on my computer and read it out. But honestly, it’s the same number everyone sees with them. Got a call from some lot claiming to be from the TPS, but I wasn’t fooled. I went along with it, feeding them a bunch of rubbish info. I’ve received four calls from this number this afternoon. Since I’ve got caller ID, I always ignore calls from numbers I don’t recognise. Nonetheless, I will be lodging a complaint with Ofcom, though I suspect it might not lead to much. The caller remains unidentified.

Got a call from them four times already today and I just ended the call every single time.

Got a call at 17:40 today from some marketing place, not the TPS people though. They asked for the expiry date and some valid date, and somehow guessed them right. Then they asked if it was 2015, I said maybe, and they suddenly got angry saying it has to be exact. When I asked why they wanted card info, they said they weren’t after the card number, just the expiry date. Seemed fishy to me.

I got a call from this number earlier today, with someone requesting my card details and whatnot. After a good few minutes of his probing, I started to feel uneasy and mentioned that I needed to ring him back. He then gave me the number 08712700039, but I had no intention of calling it. About an hour later, the same bloke rang me again from 02030191569. I flat out told him he was trying to pull a fast one and to leave me alone. Thankfully, I haven’t received any further communications since then.

Just like before, that awkward pause for a few secs while their system tries to bombard you with nonsense. I was back watching some tennis, which usually gets stopped by the rain! They rang me twice in under 2 hours!

Got a call from "Telephone Preference #Monitoring#" (noticed the subtle change!). She wanted me to verify my name and address (which I foolishly did) then asked if I pay my phone bills via direct debit (I said yes, but asked what that had to do with anything). Do you reckon this could be a scam? I didn't give out anything new, just confirmed info they probably already had. Not sure what harm they could do with that.

Four days back, I left a note here on the very first day we got our shiny new phone. Ever since, this number has been relentless, calling us daily, barring Sunday, with a staggering 10 to 15 calls each day! We’re absolutely relieved to have just set up the new BT 8500 with its brilliant call guardian feature to block those nuisance calls.

Got a call earlier from someone saying they were from 'Telephone Preference Management', they even knew my name. They asked if I was still getting loads of annoying calls, so I said, "You mean like the one you're making right now?" They just hung up straight away.

This phone number has been pestering a 95-year-old woman for several months now, repeatedly making silent calls and then following up with offers to end the harassment for a fee. It’s simply appalling what lengths some people will go to in order to make a quick buck. On the last occasion, her son picked up, and let me tell you, his response was less than civil-I’ll let you picture that! I urge everyone to report these shameless individuals to Ofcom. It won't take more than 10 to 15 minutes of your day to help shield the elderly and those at risk from such despicable behaviour.

They might not act on individual grievances, but once they see a pattern of complaints on a specific number, they might just step in.

I received a phone call that appeared to originate from a London number, yet it had all the hallmarks of an Indian call centre. The caller assured me they could prevent unsolicited calls "for the entirety of my life". When I pointed out that such a guarantee was utterly implausible, they began to repeat "just listen, just listen" in a rather frantic manner. Got a call from some woman pretending to be from the Telephone Preference Service. She knew my name and asked if I was getting nuisance calls. I said yes, and that she was one of them. I’ve just set up my shiny new BT call blocker and lo and behold, this number decided to give me a bell not once but twice, spaced out by about an hour and twenty minutes. Thing is, he called me by the wrong first name instead of my surname, which was a bit fishy.
