I received a call from a woman who mentioned my name and claimed to be representing Home Serve. When I inquired about what that was all about, she abruptly hung up. Quite peculiar!

A rather curious encounter, I must say! They identified themselves as HSJ (I had to inquire what that even stood for - turns out it's the Home Support Group, although their site seemed to be on holiday). They mentioned that the insurance for my washing machine had expired and, when they quizzed me about the model, they claimed the engineers were in the know, but their computer was just regurgitating information about an impending lapse in coverage. It's all a bit odd, really, seeing as I've never bothered with insurance for my washing machine. I told them I’d need to do some sleuthing before proceeding further. Quite the peculiar situation, wouldn't you agree?
