If you’ve ever self-published or even considered it, you might get calls from Authorhouse. Looks like they’re just trying to drum up some more business from people like that.

Last night I kept getting calls from this number and some others that looked alike. I can hardly believe a legit company in the UK would be ringing so late, it’s probably one of those dodgy scams from India.

I said I'd chat with them another time but they just kept calling me nonstop.

They kept ringing me over and over, and when I finally picked up, they already knew my name which was a bit unnerving. They claimed I was trying to get a book published, even though I’ve never spoken to anyone about that. They almost pleaded with me to share details about this supposed book, but I said I was busy and would talk later, hoping they'd just end the call because I didn’t want to sound impolite. Instead, they started shouting at me for wanting to delay the chat, so I ended the call right there. Now, they keep phoning me non-stop.

Keep getting nonstop calls, it's mental. Any respectable company wouldn’t behave like that. Just ignoring them now.

This number 02030144095 keeps ringing me non stop. Even though I've blocked it, I still end up getting voicemails from them, though they're empty. It's mad, sometimes I get about 4 calls every single day!

Got a ring from a mobile number but no voicemail or anything, so I’m not gonna bother ringing back. Could be one of those dodgy ones that hook you up with a premium line. If they really wanna chat, they’ll try again. Don’t recognise the number anyway.

This number keeps ringing me nonstop, like daily or something. They never say anything when I pick up or leave a voicemail, so I have zero clue who it could be. Proper annoying!

Over the last couple of days, they kept ringing me, I missed about 7 calls. They just keep calling over and over again. I was out most of the time. I do know AuthorHouse from before.

I'm pretty sure it was Author House or some other firm linked to them. Honestly, Author House feels like a total con. Stay clear and don’t bother publishing your book through them! I ended up losing more than £3,000 and got absolutely nothing in return. If you look closely at their contract, in tiny writing, it mentions they’re only obliged to pay a tiny fraction of the royalties annually. What a rip off!

Not sure who it was, I didn’t pick up, just checked the number on this site. I’m trying to get my book published and reached out to a place called Author House. Just saw an email from them saying they tried calling me again this morning, but the number they gave in the email isn’t the same one that’s been ringing me. Kinda strange they called me out of the blue. I’ll have to ask Author House if they’re passing my details along somewhere. Feels a bit dodgy.

Someone rang me up from a so-called publishing firm using this number. Even though I do write books, it was creepy how he already had my name and address. He kept asking loads of questions about what I’m working on next. Then out of nowhere he shouted “we’ve recorded everything you said” and just cut me off mid-sentence. Proper strange experience that.

Back in 2018, I bet this number was just some automated bot giving me a ring. Tried throwing some weird questions at it. Pretty irritating, but kind of amusing too.

I've received the same call twice tonight while I'm in Cyprus. Ignored them both, as it was quite irritating. I'm currently on the lookout for a job, so I assumed it wouldn’t be anything work-related calling me on a Saturday night. So frustrating!

Without a doubt, it’s a call centre - you could distinctly make out voices in the background. I've added them to my blocked list...

I had a call from this number recently. I’m based in Virginia, and they left a voicemail that was quite muddled-there was a lot of background clatter. It even seemed like a phone was ringing and there were busy tones in the mix. I haven’t had any calls from them since, though. Could this possibly be a publishing firm?

I’m residing in New Zealand and received a missed call from this number earlier today, which prompted me to look it up on Google and ultimately directed me to this site. Initially, I tried calling it back, but the recorded message claimed the number was no longer in service. Clearly, that's rather deceptive since they just attempted to contact me. It seems more like a scripted response rather than an actual telecom message. First red flag. Having read through the comments here, it became clear why I felt suspicious. Second red flag. Not long ago, I registered with a platform aimed at assisting budding authors by providing advice and resources. It feels like my details might have been shared without my consent. Has anyone else encountered something similar recently?

I received a rather unexpected phone call today from a publishing firm, claiming that I was an author with a manuscript ready for publication. I must say, this is quite amusing as I have never penned a book! Clearly, there's been some sort of mix-up or a rather peculiar prank at play here.

It appears that this is nothing short of a fraudulent operation masquerading as a credible self-publishing service or representative for budding authors. Regrettably, my research has uncovered numerous individuals cautioning others that it's merely another shifty, disreputable online outfit engaged in questionable practices!

Received a couple of calls today, first from 13174893887, which turned out to be Shiela Millan, a marketing manager from Xlibris. Then, to my surprise, another call from 12030144095, this time from Therese Burns, also with Xlibris. Am I just incredibly fortunate or what? Honestly, though, quite put out by their presumptuous timing on a Saturday afternoon!

I've received a couple of calls from this number lately. The first one came through in the afternoon and, rather awkwardly, they failed to hang up properly, leaving behind a rather lengthy 30-second jumble of call centre noise - couldn’t decipher a single word from it. Then, to top it all off, I got another call at a ridiculous hour - 2.15 in the morning! Thankfully, my phone was on silent, or else I would have surely been startled awake. It seems I can't return the call either, which leaves me completely in the dark about who might be behind it all.

Absolutely, I've found the responses quite beneficial, as they mirror my own encounter with this number. The woman on the other end of the line was definitely from the Philippines. I ended the conversation abruptly when a rather gripping live-stream of a hostage crisis unfolded on my television. Additionally, I remember researching publishing options and coming across this firm that requested exorbitant fees to get an author's work into print. Should they ring me again, I certainly won't be picking up the phone.

Cheers for sharing that! I'm currently residing in Singapore and I’ve received a barrage of six calls from this number over the past couple of days, though I’ve not answered any of them. To be honest, I did engage with some adverts related to publishing, but Xlibris wasn’t among them. Curiously, the calls began flooding in just a day after my online browsing. Best, Zi Wei

I recently came across a rather disturbing situation involving a woman named Debbie Ramos. She claims to be working with Xlibris and seems to be attempting to convince me to part with R9000.00 for the publication of my book. It's becoming quite tiresome, as she’s called me multiple times, ostensibly eagerly awaiting the funds. It feels as though I’m being pushed into a corner regarding this payment. She’s even gone so far as to make grand promises about turning my book into a television series and the prospect of a follow-up book. Honestly, I find this all to be quite appalling.
