Someone called saying they were from Appliance Care Ltd, telling me my plumbing and pipe insurance was about to expire. They claimed they could renew it and gave me a weird card number starting with 4 and ending with some random digits, which I obviously don’t have. I refused to give my card details since I didn’t know who they were and they wouldn’t provide any paperwork before payment. The bloke gave his name as Matt and a number, but when I looked it up online, it led me to this site. I also searched the company name and it’s nowhere to be found.

Someone rang asking for my partner by his name and even knew a 'password'. They said he hasn't made a claim on our draining policy for a year and suggested we get plumbing done - but we've never even had that policy. The caller was pretty vague about what they wanted and said they only worked in sales, so couldn’t clarify which policy we supposedly had. They told us if we doubted it, to ring back on 0800 520 2420. Claimed to be from Appliance Care Group, but a quick Google showed no such company exists. Be careful and don’t get caught out!

My phone only rang a single time at 12:39 on 31/1/2019. Luckily, my BT Call Guardian caught it straight away and blocked the call. The BT 1572 blocking service also stopped it automatically - honestly, the subscription fee is well worth it. I’ve had 27 of these calls just this month alone. I’ve been tempted to call a couple of times and hang up as payback since I’ve got free calls, but BT warned me against it because the number could be connected to a premium-rate line. Absolutely annoying.

Some bloke rang me up asking if it was me by name. He claimed the contact number for my Hotpoint washing machine cover had been updated and gave me a number. Then he asked, "Should we set up that policy for you now?" I said no thanks and he just ended the call. Later, I looked up the number he gave, 0800 1205202420, and it turns out it’s not real.

Just got a call from a polite person claiming to be from appliance care saying we had an account since 2016 on a 2 year plan. I knew this was wrong as we were always with the gas board. Told them to cancel any account and let it expire, which the caller said he would do, was quite understanding since we never signed up. Don’t fall for it, they just want your cash and later you’ll be hit with a cancellation charge once you realise it’s a scam.

Got a phone call from this number earlier. A bloke claimed to be from Appliance Care and said the warranty on my washing machine was about to run out. I knew straight away that wasn’t true. When I asked for the model of my washing machine, he gave me the wrong info. Then he went on about the cover relating to plumbing stuff like water pipes and drains.
I told him I wasn’t having any of it, suspected a scam, and hung up. I turned 80 this year, but thankfully I’m still sharp (or so I hope!). Wish there was some way to track down and report these dodgy callers.

02030114041 called me about appliance service. When i asked their name the line got cut off.

I could hear loads of noise in the background, sounded like a call centre or something. Nobody actually said anything, they just ended the call on me.
