This number keeps ringing me up, and I always end up chatting with them for ages just to try and stop them from scamming anyone else. They speak so fast that I have to ask them to repeat stuff, and by the way, it’s not racist to mention someone has a thick accent that’s hard to get, it just happens every time - he might even be from Sunderland or somewhere. He said he was calling from o2, telling me my SIM card had been updated and wanted my security answer. This time I told him straight I knew it was a con and that I’m not daft. I asked if he actually thought I was foolish, but he just said he didn’t understand. My tip is to keep these scammers stuck on the phone for as long as possible, wasting their time until they get annoyed and end the call themselves.

Got a weird voicemail from some bloke saying "hi, how’s it goin'? This is John from Gamma" or something like that, couldn’t quite catch the name. Then, you can hear another guy in the background telling him to say it again, which he does. Honestly, sounded like some scammers rehearsing their spiel but they actually went ahead and left a message.

I got a call from a London number, but both the person on the line and another voice in the background had strong Indian accents. The caller left a voicemail, and it really seemed like they were rehearsing or being coached - I could hear someone telling them to give it another go. The guy called himself "John" and kept repeating something like, "Hi, how are you today? This is John from Gamma." Not 100% sure he said Gamma, but that’s what it sounded like. Pretty sus if you ask me.

About two years back, I got a phone call from someone claiming to be with O2, saying I needed a new SIM card. They sounded so convincing, even quoted my last bill amount, so I believed them. Then, they sent me two phones and an iPad, supposedly from O2. Afterwards, they rang to say it was an error and I had to send everything back using a bag they supplied. The postman brought the parcel back, but I didn’t sign for it; I snapped a photo of the address instead. Turns out it was a private home in Reading. Today I calmly told the caller I wasn’t falling for it again, but she insisted I was mistaken. Actually, I’m pretty sure I’m right!

I received a call from this number where the person said they were from Vodafone and needed to ‘update’ my SIM card. They sent me a code that actually appeared to come from a Vodafone account - and I have had legit messages from that same source before. I was a bit suspicious, especially when they said a new SIM would be delivered the next day and that someone would come around to help install it in my iPhone. They kept putting me through to different "managers," which felt fishy. Then, when they mentioned my email, claiming only Vodafone would have it (even though loads of companies have it), I got even more doubtful. Eventually, I ended the call and reported the incident to Vodafone. It’s quite concerning that the code really did originate from a Vodafone account though.

Total rip-off! I struggled loads to understand this woman with a strong accent. When I asked why they’re ringing me from loads of different numbers when I don’t even have an O2 account, she seemed to get pretty nasty (or at least it sounded like it, since I couldn’t catch all her words).
