We received a call yesterday from these folks who claimed they could reduce our electricity bills by 40%. They mentioned they'd ring back in a week to check if we were pleased with the results. Seems like a load of nonsense to me!

We received yet another call from these folks today, so we figured it might be a good idea to dive into some more technical queries. We got escalated to a supervisor and inquired about the energy storage capacity of the capacitor. She confidently informed us that it stored a whopping 15,000 volts. However, when we pointed out that volts aren’t a measurement of energy, the line suddenly went silent on us. Curious, isn't it?

An elderly family member has been receiving calls from this number, often from an Asian gentleman attempting to sell her an electric smart meter. It’s rather persistent, with him ringing her up to twice daily, and this has been ongoing since January 2010!

We encountered a very similar pitch today from a chap who was going on about a gadget that you simply plug into your wall socket. He claimed it would slash your electricity bills by up to 40% by ‘making the most of the voltage spikes in the supply’. He mentioned it was produced by 1 Quit Marketing Solutions and insisted on getting our debit card information. Quite clearly, this is nothing short of a con.

Yet again, these individuals decided to give us a call today, so I thought it might be wise to delve into some more involved technical queries. We approached the chief and inquired about the energy stored in a capacitor. To our surprise, she declared that the capacitor holds 15.0 volts. However, when we pointed out that a volt isn’t an energy measurement, the call abruptly ended. Quite the curious turn of events, wouldn’t you agree?

I've discovered that the parent company behind this operation is ITC Developments based in the United States. Apparently, they’ve been acquiring phone numbers associated with BT.com, 192.com and similar platforms, and are engaging in cold calling. The return address provided leads back to Florida, and they mention a cooling-off period of one week. It appears this item is a surge protection device rather than an energy-saving one. For further information, check out ITCDEV.com. Interestingly, they were reluctant to provide a UK address.

What are my options for getting rid of these services, or possibly reclaiming my money?

Received a call earlier today from someone masquerading as a representative of the Electricity Board, supposedly overseeing British Gas. They claimed we would be receiving a new meter as a token of gratitude for our timely payments. However, upon further questioning, the individual mentioned something about 'getting the 99.' It's absolutely baffling! How are these scammers able to continue their deceitful antics without any repercussions?

We've received a fair few calls and emails regarding the energy-saving scheme too. It's reassuring to spot that others have shared their cautionary tales as well.

I've received a rather dubious call from someone claiming to represent a company called 1 Quit Marketing Solutions. They’re after my debit card details under the pretext of providing some energy-saving gadget that purportedly harnesses voltage fluctuations to cut my electricity bill by a whopping 40%. Sounds a bit fishy, doesn’t it? I can't help but feel this whole thing is a bit too good to be true!

My elderly family member keeps receiving calls from this number. It seems to be an Asian gentleman persistently trying to promote an electric smart meter. She’s been getting these calls nearly twice a day since January 2010!
