I failed to collect a parcel yesterday and decided to install the Royal Mail app. Now, I'm receiving a call originating from London! I tend to avoid calls from that area, as it feels like a hub for scams. I've uninstalled the app and am seriously contemplating getting a new phone number! What a bother! 😞

Got a call from 02030001077 saying there’s a parcel from Royal Mail stuck at their depot for me. Bit odd as I’m not expecting any deliveries at all.

Got a call at 14:28 from a bloke claiming to be with Royal Mail about a parcel they supposedly had for me. He asked if I needed help with collecting it. I told him I didn’t. Then he asked if he'd email me the details, to which I said no again. After that, he just said thanks and ended the call.

My iPhone caught this number trying to ring me and it got blocked and flagged straight away.

When I pressed them for details about the sender or the origin of this supposed parcel, they couldn’t provide a thing and merely said it lacked a return address. If I refused to pay, they were utterly clueless about what to do next. Honestly, I'm not expecting anything from anyone at the moment, so it raised a few red flags. To top it off, the person on the other end didn’t have a proper command of the English language, which further convinced me it was dodgy! Their pitch was all about this £1.55 being so trivial, just pay it and find out who sent it. However, I highly doubt that Royal Mail would operate in such a manner! They would send a proper letter if it were genuine and certainly wouldn’t rush you into making a snap decision. Moreover, the email didn’t come from an official Royal Mail address but rather from [email protected] - a classic sign of a ruse! Be on your guard, folks! It’s not just about the £1.55; it’s the security of your card details when making that payment and the protection of your personal information that’s at stake! Absolute scam!
