Somebody called claiming to be from Microsoft and insisted my PC was infected with viruses. She asked me to turn on my computer and give her the IP address so she could remotely fix the problem. But if she didn’t have my IP already, how did she know it was my machine having issues? I told her it was a scam and reminded her I was registered with the TPS, so her call was illegal. She ended the call pretty fast after that.

Forget what I said before, I got it wrong. It’s definitely a scam. They talked so smoothly and sounded really convincing, but honestly, trust your gut feeling. I wish I had done that myself :(

I wasn't sure at first and thought it might be a scam, but this was actually Microsoft. They asked me a bunch of questions to confirm their identity and then pointed out the issues with my computer. It definitely was real, and I saw them sort out the problems right in front of me.

This number rings me up round 6 times daily. One time, my missus picked up by accident and all she got was silence. Next time I'm free, I might just answer and keep them talking for an hour, asking daft questions and giving silly replies without even looking at my PC. Might even have a go at tricking them into giving their bank info by saying I want to move my savings to them for safekeeping in case hackers target my account.

I had a call from a 020 number but the person on the other end didn’t say a word. These 020 calls are sketchy, probably fake. It’s likely some sort of scam - maybe phishing or one of those irritating fraudsters trying to trick you into giving access to your computer. Just ignore and don’t hand over any info. Trust me on this one!

Looks like this number is from some place in Asia, and whoever is on the other end is trying to trick you into giving away your personal details to scam you. Best thing to do? Don’t pick up, just block it right away.

This morning I got a call warning that my computer access would be cut off if I didn’t log in right away so they could "sort out" some issue. I just ended the call straight away and blocked the number after. Sounds really dodgy to me.

Got a call earlier today from someone saying they were with Windows. They told me if I didn't answer, my computer would just stop working in a couple days. I just ended the call straight away. We'll see what happens now.

MY TAKE: NEVER pick up calls from any number beginning with 020. More often than not, it's a call from some international Asian phone operator. Most times it's a sales team, but sometimes it could be scammers trying to pull a trick. Just be careful with those calls!

So at first, this lady with an Asian accent started off all serious about me ignoring their alerts. Then, out of nowhere, a bloke takes over the call and when I mention that Windows don’t do cold calls, he basically tells me to SHUT UP, not once, but twice! Honestly, haven't cracked up that much in a long time. Fingers crossed they call me again soon :)

I got three calls from this number. The initial one was at 7 in the morning, then two more calls came early the next day. The lady said I’d got a message sent to my computer or laptop and that I hadn’t responded to it. I asked her how she knew any of this, but she wasn’t sure if I even had a computer, just mentioned something about Microsoft. Seems dodgy to me - how else could she possibly know my landline number? Probably a scam.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent saying my computer was at risk. They phoned me twice in less than an hour. I’ve put the number on block now!

They try to scare you saying your computer’s been hacked. then they say they’re some IT specialists or from a big company offering to protect your computer. Next thing is, they’ll want your bank card info. Whatever you do, don’t give it to them or you’ll end up getting ripped off.

Got a call around 11:10 this morning from a woman with an Asian accent. She said I’d missed some urgent messages on my computer and warned that if I didn’t take action, my computer could get damaged. I just told her, “Sorry, I don’t buy it,” and ended the call straight away.

I've had calls from these lot multiple times daily, usually I just ignore them. Today I finally picked up and told the woman not to call again, but she kept insisting I explain why. She said there's some problem I need sorted. Honestly, this kind of scam where they pretend your computer or iPad is faulty should be stopped. People don’t need to be hassled like this constantly.
