Today I received a rather unusual call on my landline, purportedly from a chap claiming to be a BT engineer. He asserted that my internet connection had been compromised and insisted that I power up my computer so he could investigate the issue remotely. I politely refused his request, and rather quickly, the conversation took a turn; the fellow started sounding quite agitated. I've got a strong hunch that this was some sort of scam.
