On the 19th of February 2019, I got a call from this number from a bloke with a really thick Indian accent. He said he was ringing from BT and warned that my broadband service was going to be cut off soon. He asked if I was near my router and if not, to go to the room and turn my computer on. Having recently been alerted by Hertfordshire police about scams just like this, I told him I couldn’t get into the room. He then just hung up on me without explaining anything. Later, I chatted live with BT online and they confirmed it was definitely a scam, saying they always use an 0800 number when contacting customers.
