Some bloke called and first asked if I’d been in an accident, I told him no. Then he wanted to know if I had a boyfriend, I said no again. Next up he asked if I was single, but I said no. After all that, he just blurted out that he basically only wanted to sleep with me. Weird, right?

So I got a call from a bloke who said there was some accident I was involved in last year, which is rubbish because I’ve never had an accident. I asked him how he even got hold of my number since I’m on the TPS, but he just didn’t say. When I asked where he was calling from, all he kept saying was “Manchester”, so I cheekily asked if he meant Manchester in India before I ended the call. Funny thing is, when I checked 1471, the number actually showed London, not Manchester at all.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with the "National Accident Helpline" asking about an accident I was in last year. When I asked where they got my phone number from, they suddenly changed the subject and started asking if any of my family members had accidents. I asked once more about the source of my number, and then they just cut the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I received a rather dubious call from an Asian solicitor pushing for compensation. He inquired if I had suffered an accident, despite the fact it happened over four years ago when I was rear-ended at a roundabout. When I cheekily replied, “maybe fifty years back,” he promptly hung up! At least it was a slight improvement over the TalkTalk fraudster who bizarrely referred to me as 'marthafarquah' when I questioned his request for me to install TeamViewer on my computer... I've now signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, although I’m not holding my breath for any real protection!

Received a call from someone claiming to be "Elvis" from India a couple of days back, promising to put an end to sales calls. Quite amusing really, seeing as I hadn’t received any prior to that! I got a call from a guy with a strong Indian accent who said I had been in a car crash recently and that I might get 2-3 grand compensation. When I asked where he found my number, he just ignored it and kept calling me "mate." I asked for his number to ring him back, and he gave me one from Manchester. I checked it with 1471 and it matched the one he gave, which made it clear to me it was a scam.

Just another irritating scam call, and it feels like there’s no way to catch these people because they stay anonymous. What’s the use of the telephone preference service if the phone systems can’t properly check who’s calling? Seems pointless when the law can’t do anything without knowing the caller’s identity.

I got a call from some call centre trying to help with a personal injury claim for a car accident that never happened. I’ve never given my landline to any insurance firm, so it was odd. When I told the guy that, he just kept asking questions about the supposed accident. Once I told him to take my number off their system, he just hung up on me.
