10 yearsThere’s this guy calling my dad every day, says his name’s Julio Castro, claiming my dad’s old shares were sold too cheaply. My dad sold those shares ages ago, but Julio insists he’s entitled to compensation. My dad even sent a scan of the share certificates by email. Today, when dad was out, Julio called again saying the details will be sent over to their legal team and they’ll get back with an offer soon. After that call, I looked up the number and found loads of people reporting the same sort of calls. Julio’s meant to ring again in about an hour, and I’m planning to tell him I’m recording everything and will report him as I’m pretty sure it’s a con. Thing is, I don’t even know how to properly report scams or record calls, so I’m just bluffing at the moment. Wish I’d caught on earlier but I only just found out. Still, how do these lot even know about the shares people used to hold? It’s a devious trick.Julio CastroJulio10 yearsThey called my mum, she’s 83, asking for my dad who sadly died last year, said something about shares he owned. Mum said she’d pass it on if the caller rang when I was with her to answer, but of course they never bothered calling back. No surprises there.10 yearsGot a call from the same number three times today. When I finally picked up, the person on the other end was asking for my dad, but he's been gone for more than a decade now. Quite a weird experience!10 yearsAnother annoying call from those daft scammers. Honestly, the best thing is to keep them chatting for ages - it drives them mad when you waste their precious time! Absolute muppets!10 yearsSome bloke phoned me from this number saying he was with Norton or Symantec. I’d sent Norton an email earlier because my computer was acting up, dunno if that’s why they called or if it’s just a coincidence. Then he told me Microsoft would ring back in about 45 mins about a new subscription or something. Got me proper worried it was a scam.Norton / SymantecNortonMicrosoft10 yearsI picked up the phone but nobody said anything, then they just hung up. Honestly, I find these kinds of calls pretty dodgy.10 yearsA call was received from this number on Wednesday, the 3rd of August, 2016, but it hit a brick wall with BT Guardian. When it comes to verifying the authenticity of calls, BT Guardian isn't one to let anything slip by; if you can't prove your legitimacy, your call gets tossed out without a second thought, and that’s precisely what took place here. It’s possible the same callers tried getting through using a withheld number, and unsurprisingly, they faced the same fate.BT Guardian10 yearsI've noticed that a certain number is linked to Capita Investment. They frequently reach out from a withheld number as well. It seems that this company is situated on 3rd Avenue in New York, NY 10022. Their calls pertain to a dubious scheme involving a supposed takeover, where they claim a third party is interested in purchasing your seemingly valueless penny stocks and insists that you require a bond. That's when they start asking for money.Capita Investment3rd AvenueNew YorkNYSubmit Your Own Report (020 0222 9102)
