Got a call from some bloke I could barely make out, claiming to be from Virgin Media and asking me to verify some info, including bank stuff. As soon as I told him I’d ring Virgin myself, he started making up all sorts of excuses and got pretty rude. I ended up hanging up feeling really upset. I rang Virgin afterwards to check and they said it definitely wasn’t them. Then I called my bank, who were absolutely brilliant and helped me stay calm. Thankfully, they didn’t manage to get anything, but blimey, they tried hard.

I rang my grandparents who suffer from dementia around 10:40, and the call was quite a mess. After I pressed one, a woman came on the line but couldn’t even give me the name of the person they claimed to be. She clearly wasn’t ready for any follow-up questions. Then she threatened, saying “you lot will all get arrested,” so that should be interesting to see how that plays out.

Picked up the phone and the number seemed legit at first, it was the HMRC one, 0300 200 3200. Then a recorded message said it was from HMRC and claimed there was a warrant out for my arrest or something like that. I pressed 1 to speak to someone. The bloke on the other end had an Indian accent and when I told him I didn’t owe any tax and suspected a scam, he kept messing up the name of his department, calling it “land revenue” or something strange. Realised I wasn’t convinced, so he just ended the call on me!

The phone rang and my missus picked it up. The lady on the other end had a foreign accent and said she was "Jenny Brown" from BT Openreach. My wife struggled to make out what she was saying and kept asking her to repeat herself a few times before ending the call - seemed like a scam to me. Almost immediately, the same number called back. This time my wife answered but she just stayed quiet as nothing was said on the line, then she put the phone down. We’re based in Sheffield, by the way.

I received a call just like that this morning. I had a feeling it was nothing more than a scam, but I can imagine how distressing such a menacing call could be for some individuals. It’s truly disgraceful that there are people out there who stoop to this level.

Got a robotic call claiming I’m about to get sued over taxes, then just cut me off. This is the third time they’ve called me this week.

What a con! They called pretending to be from HMRC, stating that a warrant was out for my arrest. They were desperate for my name and postcode. I decided to play along, spinning them a web of falsehoods to see their reaction. After a moment, I told them I was recording the conversation and that I was an MI5 agent on their doorstep, ready to take them down. Quite amusing how they squirmed!

Got a dodgy recorded call saying I’m being charged with HMRC fraud and that I’m about to get arrested. They then offered to let me speak to someone about it. Total scam trying to steal your details. Best thing is to just put the phone down straight away.

I got a call with an automated voice telling me I was involved in some fraud with HMRC and that they were sending an arrest warrant for me. After that, it said to press 1 if I wanted to talk to someone. Then this Indian guy came on and started asking for my full name and address. I ended the call straight away.

Somebody claiming to be an HMRC caseworker rang me, but their accent was so thick I couldn’t even tell if they knew what "HMRC" means. They soon started getting all shouty and said the police would be coming to arrest me. I’ve put the kettle on and got a packet of Jaffa Cakes ready to greet them when they turn up. If no one shows in the next 30 minutes, I’m afraid those Jaffa Cakes might not last!
