I got a call from someone saying that because I’m retired, they’d cut my TV insurance premium in half. They just needed my bank card details to sort it out and said the cheaper rate would kick in next month. But as soon as I said something about reporting them to the fraud department, they hung up straightaway.

An unknown bloke called me up claiming he wished to have a natter about my telly. I could smell a con from a mile off, so I quipped that I’d turn it on, and he could have a chinwag with it directly. Clearly, my jest was entirely lost on him. He persistently repeated that he wanted to chat about my television, so I warned him not to be cheeky. He assured me he wouldn't, then there was an awkward pause before he abruptly disconnected. What a shifty call!
