SCAM ALERT! Make sure to report them to 7726 (this isnt a police number) and block the caller. It’s also a good idea to drop your local MP an email asking a couple of things: why cant we report scam calls directly through police 'action fraud' anymore? And why hasn’t the phone network sorted out Caller ID Authentication yet, which would cut down so many scam calls? Scam texts should be sent to 7726 as well. Plus, if you get scam emails or can screenshot text scams, send them to the police at '[email protected]' so they can look into it.

A thick Indian accent on the line, saying they were from Microsoft. They even knew my last name, which was creepy - obviously, someone’s sold personal info. I told him he was a scammer since Microsoft never calls out of the blue. He tried to convince me by offering his name for me to look it up online, said it would prove he was legit! I told him I wasn’t interested in wasting time and to find someone else to scam. Still, he kept pushing so I just ended the call.

If a single number keeps bombarding me with scam calls, shouldn’t some police force step in? Is there anyone I can report this to so they actually do something about it?

Got two calls from someone saying they were Microsoft Support. I ended the call, but then the guy rang back asking why I'd hung up. An asian bloke told me there was strange activity on my PC. He gave me some number saying it was my Microsoft Licence number and said I should check my computer while he helped sort it out. I thought it was a scam, so I said I'd double check with Microsoft myself. He offered to give me a phone number, but I said no and that I'd find it on my own. I phoned 1471 and got his number. He said he'd ring me again if he didn't get any news from Microsoft. Roger Plant

Some woman called claiming to be Jenny from Microsoft, said there was a problem with my computer or something from Garstang, England. I told her I don’t even have a PC and that she was calling an old SIM card I never signed up or gave my details to anyone with. I mentioned I was recording the call to show my mobile provider. She didn’t hang about and dropped the call sharpish 🤣 Number’s blocked and reported now.
