I received a rather dubious call purportedly from the National Office of Audit and Statistics. I sensed something fishy, especially as the callers seemed to have Middle Eastern accents and got rather irate when I mentioned I’d be recording our conversation. I suggested I might bill them for the call, considering they had clearly violated the Data Protection Act of '98 and gathered my information fraudulently. I even threatened them with legal action for harassment! To top it all off, I cheekily answered the phone as “PC ***** from Hampshire Constabulary.” Strangely enough, those calls have ceased since!
