I've had about five messages this week, all from different phone numbers. I only picked up because the caller ID showed our own area code - sneaky trick. They claimed a foreign criminal had hacked into our online bank account, which is bizarre since we don't use internet banking at all. They asked me to press 9 to talk to an advisor. I'm pretty sure pressing that would have connected me to some scammer trying to steal our cash and hit us with expensive phone charges.
