Got a call from "Animal mates" about renewing my pet insurance. Didn’t bother renewing because they wouldn’t pay a claim, saying I took my dog to the vet "outside office hours" (at 11:15pm on a Sunday) so it wasn’t covered!!! And they keep ringing me. Are they stupid or just plain dumb???

I've never visited any insurance comparison website nor have I ever had insurance with this company. My number is on the TPS and isn't public anyway. No idea how they managed to get hold of my number, but I've blocked them now. They seriously need to be slapped with a big fine for their dodgy sales tactics.

Cheers to everyone who shared their thoughts about this number. I was actually about to get a policy via Compare the Market since a mate suggested it. Last week I used Go Compare to look up pet insurance, and since then I’ve had three calls from the same firm. I told them the puppy isn’t coming until 2/7/18, so they said they wouldn’t call again before then. After reading everyone's feedback, I’m not sure I want to get insurance through them after all. Also, I’m quite miffed with the Go Compare website - I had no idea they’d be sharing my landline with just anyone.

They rang me once more today, so I got in touch and told them about the updated Data Protection rules that ban cold calling. I’m telling you lot to do the same. I told them to take my number off their list straight away or I’d report them and they’d get a big fine. Just search for Data Protection Act and you’ll find a link to complain about these annoying people. Let’s put a stop to it. I’m ex-directory and don’t need this hassle.

Pet Friends denied my claim, saying my dog’s illness was pre-existing - which it definitely wasn’t. Then they hiked my premium up to nearly £600! Why should I keep handing over money to these jokers? I’m just saving it now for the next vet visit. Even after I gave them a right mouthful on the phone, they still wouldn’t back down.

Animal Friends - AVOID INSURING YOUR PETS WITH THEM! They wouldn't pay me over £1000 on my claim, claiming the horse had a previous illness - it absolutely didn't! The vet confirmed this, but they still refused to payout. Seriously, stay well clear!

Our landline was interrupted by a call today; upon picking up, the caller started blathering about an “accident” I supposedly had. When I pressed them for details-like, “What accident are you on about?” and “How did you acquire my number?”-they just cut the line. Considering that we’re signed up with the Telephone Preference Service, I reckon they’ve breached the rules. Moreover, the company that sold my number must be violating Data Protection laws, as I always tick the box to refuse third-party access. It’s only a matter of time before one of these firms gets their just deserts!
