When I tried to find out why they were calling, they weren’t very clear at all. Also, there was loads of background noise making it hard to hear, so I just hung up.

Got a call today from someone named James, said he was from some Insurance Review Team about my life cover. Wouldn't tell me which firm, but mentioned they deal with big names like Aviva. Pretty obvious it wasn’t really James and sounded like it was coming out of some huge call centre. Just another lot of scam artists, as ever. The number showed up as +44 1978 638995 from Wrexham. Best to steer clear.

Last Friday, the 2nd of October, I received a rather unpleasant phone call from this number. The caller, who was quite nasty, had the audacity to question whether I had trouble hearing. Although I've dealt with similar nuisances before, I initially gave this local number the benefit of the doubt and tried to remain civil. However, I eventually lost my patience and told him to just clear off.

Earlier today, I received a rather courteous phone call from a lady speaking with a distinct accent typical of Cheshire, Lancashire, or Manchester. She identified herself as a representative of the Workers Party of Wales and mentioned that I was recorded as having a background in heavy industry, which is quite a mix-up as I previously served as a civil servant before my retirement. The caller expressed an interest in discussing potential legislative changes but then switched gears, stating that it was actually my wife she wished to speak about-naming her specifically. Hardly the case, since my wife worked with the NHS before hanging up her boots. She assured me that we would be removed from their contact list. Given the local dialing prefix and the fact that my wife is a Labour Party member, I can't help but wonder if they’re sifting through lists, using an organisation name to resonate with their targets. Quite intriguing, really...

I've received a pair of calls today, and each time I picked up, they just dropped the line. Quite baffling, really!

They claimed to be investigating the hearing issues faced by factory workers. I’ve lost my hearing due to the noise levels at Brymbo Steelworks, but honestly, that pales in comparison to the Asbestosis I've suffered from, having been practically surrounded by the stuff. And to top it all off, I was poisoned by a careless engineer who seemed indifferent to the risk he posed to others. This same individual ended up working at Kronospan and then later at Sonae in Liverpool, where he continued his reckless ways.
