I rang this number back and got a BT message saying the line was no longer active, so definitely spoofed. The caller said his name was Matthew and spoke about lagging and insulation. He had called a few weeks ago from 02081612040, same spiel about some Government scheme, no reputable company mentioned. It’s clearly a con, especially as 01978 numbers are Welsh but this so-called Government scheme has just been stated to apply only to England. Stay clear!

Phoned this number back and got a BT message saying the number isn’t active, so it’s definitely spoofed. The guy who rang called himself Matthew and was going on about lagging and insulation. He actually gave me a ring a few weeks ago too, but from 02081612040, same spiel about some government scheme, lots of waffle but no company name mentioned. It’s clearly a scam because 01978 numbers are Welsh, and the latest government scheme is only meant for England. Best to steer clear!

Just got a call from a number starting 01978, which I know is from Wrexham in North Wales. They were trying to get me onto some government insulation scheme, but since it’s only meant for England, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. Watch out and don’t fall for it!
