6 yearsI received a call that began with a pre-recorded message, claiming to be from BT, saying that my internet and landline were about to be cut off due to some alleged suspicious activity. They prompted me to press 1 to talk to someone, so I did, only to be connected with a foreign woman whose accent made it hard to follow the conversation. She insisted that someone in California was accessing my email. As soon as I pushed back and asked how they could possibly be BT, they abruptly ended the call. Interestingly, I had a similar call the day before from a different number. To add to the absurdity, I’m not even a BT customer, and it’s baffling how they even got my mobile number!
