It was an automated message, in a woman’s voice, saying, “Hello, this is Shirley from your internet service provider. We're contacting you because your IP address has been flagged as compromised from multiple locations and must be changed. Please press 1 to connect with a technician immediately...” Naturally, I hung up and reached out to my REAL ISP (Virgin) to report what I suspected was a phishing attempt. The representative assured me that Virgin would never initiate a call like that; they would directly contact you via telephone or email and ask that you call them back through a secure line.
