I just got a call from this number, according to my caller display. (I'll elaborate on that shortly...) It was an automated message, in a woman’s voice, saying, “Hello, this is Shirley from your internet service provider. We're contacting you because your IP address has been flagged as compromised from multiple locations and must be changed. Please press 1 to connect with a technician immediately...” Naturally, I hung up and reached out to my REAL ISP (Virgin) to report what I suspected was a phishing attempt. The representative assured me that Virgin would never initiate a call like that; they would directly contact you via telephone or email and ask that you call them back through a secure line. Oddly, though, when I looked up this number online, it linked to a dog trainer in Aberystwyth!

About once a week we get a call like this. It's some automated voice telling us our "internet's been hacked across multiple countries" and we should press 1 for assistance. Pretty obvious scam, so we just hang up as always.

Got a robo call telling me they’re gonna cut off my internet because apparently it’s been hacked.
